Meh. Real Men don't cry...

In all seriousness, we don't know these people so other than getting a little bummed I'd not be overcome by emotion if, say, Julio Cesar Chavez died, and he is BIG over here.

I'm not basing or anything, I just don't get how people could get so emotional about a celebrity, or a star that died. On the other hand, I could see that happening if certain heads of social movements bit the dust a little too early(Martin Luther King, Gandhi, etc.).
I say that it's more of their legacy dying. Imagine your favorite musician dying, and you never got a chance to see him (again) and his music will never continue. Depends however on how much music and that kind of stuff matters to you. I love music and don't want to think about when my idols die.

Well, that is a good argument and it is indeed up to however you interpret things. But in my case my favorite musicians are either dead or old, so I'm actually expecting it to happen any day now... ...yes, I'm a cranky old man in spirit.

Bumblebee

I actually got up in the cinema and shouted DONT TOUCH BUMBLEBEE, during the first film, he's fucking brilliant.

As for real people, I'll be said to see this person go, he deserves more credit than he gets. He is a GOD amongst men.

I was sad to hear that his wife had died too, I was sad to hear that he was painfully grieving the women he'd been with since he was 11 years old wasn't with him anymore.

as a plus point, an icon dying before their time becomes a Martyr for generations to come with no input from what they do, what with being dead!.

I propose to you fellow escapists, my James Dean arguement... James Dean is the coolest rebel to have ever lived, he died at the age of 23 years old. Cementing his status as the coolest mofo ever.

now take Marlon Brando, he was fucking epic in his prime, but then he got old and fat... thereby losing his "cool". What if James Dean got old and fat?.

Same goes with Sid Vicious of the Sex Pistols.

I wouldn't cry over the death of a celebrity. Unless one of my close friends happened to be the celebrity who died.

If Eric Bana, James McAvory or Kevin Pereira were to die, I'd be sad, but not crying.(they're so cute!)

Now if my father or Courtney Love where to bite it, then I'd be singing and dancing in the streets in my undies.

EDIT: Now, I know he died when I was only 2, but Kurt Cobain's death does sadden me. He was violently taken away from his daughter and the new life he was going to start with her and away from Courtney.

Then again, I wouldn't cry if my mother died.
I just don't do crying.
Oh Monkfish, I dont believe that. When it actually happens you will see how wrong you were, you may hope you didnt cry because you will... ALOT... and it sucks, for days, weeks, months, years after the death of a truly loved one you will still cry about it.

I used to think like you, I was wrong.
No, really. I don't cry.
If I ever do feel enough sadness to cry, I protect myself by replacing it with numbness.
It's an automatic thing. I can't help it.

My Mom since she's all I have left, My Friends and the girl I love, and Metallica any one of them. Probably because their music means so much to me. Kept me from killing myself.

I can't feel any real connection to celebrities. Sure, there are the ones that I wouldn't mind having a drink with, but fame usually ruins a person so I simply assume that most celebrities are giant dicks that become "humanitarians" because they can't get enough of themselves. Although to be fair, I was thinking of Bono when I wrote this.
