Inspired by recent Game of Thrones antics and because I feel like making a silly thread.

You need to accomplish the impossible, but no army can follow you and no one believes in your cause. But you don't need an army, you just need 20 good men(or women).
Possible missions include infiltrating an enemy camp and destroying vital supplies undetected to blowing up the death star or destroying Sauron so probably need a varied skill set.

Who are they?
Alternatively if 20 is too much work, there's the 10 good men and climbing spikes variant.

Team Leader: Motoko Kusanagi
Medic: Medic from TF2
Scientist:Mordin Solus
Infiltration specialist: Solid Snake
Soldier: Sheperd (Mass Effect)
Assault specialist: Gutz
Melee specialist: Ivan Drago
Strategist: Zhuge Liang
Pilot: Wedge Antilles
Wizard: Sith Emperor

Team Leader: Renegade Shepard
- Want someone that will do whatever needs to be done. Just a good thing this doesn't sound like a diplomacy mission
Medic: Anders
- Spirit Healers are a bit ridiculous and he's useful in other ways. If you need any Chantries blown up, he's your man-spirit thing.
Scientist: Cave Johnson
- He's clearly got something going for him if he can develop a mad AI as well as a portal gun.
Infiltration: Corvo
- He's a pretty successful assassin with some impressive supernatural abilities. Maybe not cut out for bodyguard duty.
Soldier: Master Chief
- Well he is pretty good at it, even if he isn't exactly unique
Assault: Kyle Katarn
- Always good to have a Jedi on the team and he was still good at the job before picking up a lightsaber
Melee: Hulk
- Says it all
Strategist: Sun Li the Glorious Strategist
- Well I mean he's glorious. Also a pretty crafty villain it seems. And he's not bad in a fight.
Pilot: Han Solo
- Can't go wrong with him
Wizard: Voldemort
- Well he is pretty good at using magic to get what he wants. Of course at this point the solution may be worse than the problem

Team Leader: Honor Harrington
-She's an amazing leader, genetically modified for high gravity worlds, a cyborg, and there is the built in bonus that Nimitz comes with her as additional fighting power.
Medic: Fritz Montoya
-He saved not only the lives of Honor and Nimits, but basically everyone else on Cerberus 3 AKA Hell after being captured, tortured on PNS Tepes and escaping and destroying the ship.
Scientist:Mordin Solus
-For obvious reasons.
Infiltration specialist: Adam Jensen
-A cyborg who who can cloak them selves is the best for infiltration.
Soldier: Samus Aran
-She gets the job done.
Assault specialist: Urdnot Grunt
-Good bullet sponge, and mean as hell.
Melee specialist: Zero (Megaman X/Zero series)
-Nuff said there.
Strategist: Shannon Foraker.
-She can blow up ships without firing a shot. Gotta have me the Tac witch.
Pilot: Prescott David "Scotty" Tremain
-He can pilot things big as a 747 and bigger, not to mention smaller. So lots of flexibility.
Wizard: Gandalf
-He gets things done, period, no arguments.

Edit more to add to round out a full 20:
Hacker: Horace Harkness
-He hacked PNS Tepes with a mini-computer thus allowing the escape of the captives aboard that ship, resulting in the destruction of Tepes. Plus you never see Scotty Tremain with out him close by.
Sniper: Garrus Vakarian
-Skilled in the trade, can work on his own, flexible for use in other departments.
Intelligence: Anton Zilwiki
-He's just scary, and a darn good agent to boot.
Scout: Nimitz.
-Since he knows sign language already, is darn fast, and as a treecat he's small, nimble, hard to notice, and of course climbs trees. Plus he comes with honor.
Technician: Tali'Zorah vas Normandy
-It's Tali, seriously enough said there.
Mecha pilot: Tieria Erde
-He's basically impossible to kill because he can upload himself to Veda, and clone himself new bodies, not to mention being a Gundam Meister. Also the regular pilot can't be expected to run a Mecha of any description.
Assassin: Ezio Auditore de Fifenze
-Because he's good at his job, and good in a fight.
Diplomat: Louis Wu
-If you can talk down a Kzin, you can talk down anyone.
Heavy Weapons: Tomas Ramirez
-Huge man born on and genetically engineered for San Martin's massive 2.00Gs. Also a Royal Manticoran Marine so he can handle powered armor and big guns.
Demolitions: The Hulk
-Seriously, who needs explosives when you got someone who can just smash everything in your path?

A team of 20 who can take care of anything? Oh, that's easy.

The Five Nodos (plus Dianeira) from Heroic Age.

The Seven Dieties (minus Sergei and Wyzan, but plus Asura and Mithra) from Asura's Wrath.

The Guardians of the Galaxy (All five).

Tony Stark.

Vash The Stampede.

Spike Spiegel.

They can do anything.

1.-5. Bender from Futurama and the 4 Penguins of Madagascar to act as a distraction.
6. Eggsy from Kingsman to give a gentlemanly, benevolent facade to our operation.
7. George Carlin for communications, verbal and propaganda warfare.
8. Simo Häyhä as the long-range and recon support
9. Havel the Rock as the Tank and close combat damage sponge
10. Ahriman from WH40k as the Wizard
11. Scout from TF2 to draw enemy fire and confuse things
12. Ender Wiggin as the Leader and general manager
13. Sam Fisher for spying and sabotage
14. Kratos as the wildcard to let loose
15. The C'tan Aza'gorod the Nightbringer as the army killer
16. Rama from The Raid for those eventual hand-to-hand showdowns
17. Arnold Schwarzenegger as the ranged damage sponge, since every bullet the enemy fires at him will inexplicably miss its target.
18. The Xenomorph for quick, silent assassination missions.
19. John Wick as an all-rounder who can take up any role should a team member fall
20. This slot is reserved for a demolitions and bombardment guy, couldn't think of a good one at time of writing.

Oh, this looks fun. Though some of my favourites have already been mentioned so I'll try to not recycle. I hope using historical figures doesn't count as cheating.

Team Leader: Commander "Rock Lobster"
- Someone needs to keep this ragtag group together and who is better for the job than an engineered super soldier who's used to dealing with Kratos attempting brain-teasers while peacefully leading an agency of the most macho and crazy men the world has ever seen.

Medic: The Medic
- While somewhat crazy at least he'll be willing to go on the job. Most medical practitioners are slightly nervous when shot at.

Scientist: The Doctor
- he might object to the methods of some of his companion, but one would be hard pressed to find a more brilliant mind across the time-space.

Infiltration specialist: Adam Jensen
- I can't really think of anyone better for the job, so just go read what Kyuubi wrote.

Soldier: Cpt. Titus of the Ultramarines
- Give him a target and a bolter. Suddenly you don't have a target anymore. Man made for the job.

Assault specialist: Dante
- Near immortal, master of all arms, be it melee or ranged, will not be surprised by any foe and does his shit with style.

Melee specialist: Miyamoto Musashi
- This dude fought in wars all the way to his eighties and died of natural causes while being undefeated. Imagine the levels of kickass in his prime.

Strategist: Batman
- Has a plan for everything and when he doesn't he just batmans it. Not really a team player but can adapt if the situation calls for it.

Pilot: Jeff "Joker" Moreau
- Landing a ship in an active volcano, not getting the hull melted and getting everyone out alive is just the thing I might need.

Wizard: Ged AKA Sparrowhawk
- The most powerful wizard of Earthsea AND he can command dragons. Khaleesi can stuff it.

Unfortunately I don't have the time for a full 20, so here's 15.

Hacker: Clockwork
- Impossible to track, get's the job done, that's what I want in a hacker. Always running, eh?

Scout: Riddick
- Used to working alone in hostile environments, survivalist expert, great eyesight, master at stealth and deadly with a dagger.

Technician: Sun Tzu
- Maybe not the best for spec-ops, but it's good to have someone who can predict the enemy, so he and the strategist can plan around that.

Mecha pilot: Sagara Sousuke
- This kid is a genius when it comes to mechas and can get the most out of any machine. He's also quite dangerous outside the giant death machine.

Heavy Weapons: Markus
- Cool under pressure, can take a buckton of bullets even without armour and outfitted with Master's prototype makes him a walking tank. He can also carry way more ammo than any normal soldier.

Infiltration specialist: Motoko Kusanagi (Ghost in the Shell)
Soldier: Blake (RWBY)
Assault specialist: Jack (Samurai Jack)
Melee specialist: Kung Dury (Kung Fury)
Strategist: Robin (Fire Emblem Awakenning)
Pilot: Four Seven Niner (Red Vs Blue)
Wizard: Twilight Sparkle (MLP:FiM)

I alos adding a scott which will be Ruby from RWBY.

Agent 47 (Hitman)
Sam Fisher (Splinter Cell)
Superman (DC Comics)
Trunks (DBZ)
Professor X (X-Men)

Yeah, going to cheat a bit here.

Eddie Stone and John Macaleese, and "Johnny" and "Pete" (real names unknown), who were in SAS: Survival Secrets, and are all ex-SAS themselves. Ex-special forces playing special forces acting like special forces are, IMHO, just more hardcore than more or less anyone else, for obvious reasons.

Oh, and I guess 16 other people, but, eh. I do like the idea of Christopher Lee, though, he's done some seriously impressive stuff during his time.

I think the whole point of a "x good men" thing is that they don't have to be any specific "good men", you can do the job with literally anyone who's not incompetent or cowardly.

So, in the theme of that, and because otherwise the temptation is to just see how many invincible or omnipotent characters I can name which is actually really boring, I'm going to restrict myself to no named or OP characters, just basically regular troops:

A Stormtrooper (Star Wars) - their reputation for incompetence and innacuracy comes from several occasions in the films where they'd actually been ordered to shoot to miss, like when Vader was allowing the rebels to escape the Death Star.
A Battle Droid (Star Wars prequels) - ok, these guys were actually canonically kinda bad at their jobs, but I have some affection for them, and we need some comic relief.
A Vortigaunt (Half-Life series)
A soldier of the Welsh Guards (real life) - Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau [https://youtu.be/wLb5aqugDH8?t=29s], motherfuckers.
A Hawkman (Flash Gordon) - Air support, and a chance to work on my Brian Blessed impression [https://youtu.be/O4nS9IbT-uk?t=29s]
A Misaka Clone (A Certain Magical Index) - They were created to be killed en masse, but one of them would probably be the most powerful individual on the list so far.
A soldier of the Survey Corps (Attack on Titan) - Also die like flies, also would probably be totally OP if you put them up against more reasonable opponents. I mean, compare the 3d maneuver gear to Rico's grappling hook. [https://youtu.be/-x1q7wY0koE?t=1m31s]
A Decker Specialist (Saints Row III) - fast attack melee specialist, also HAWT
A No. 48 clone (Hitman series) - Oh, hey, another series of clones that's had the emotions repressed out of them until they obey all orders mindlessly, and gets murdered en masse. Bet him and the Misaka Imouto will get on like a house on fire.
A Turret (Portal series) - Adorable team mascot/fire support.

Highlights:
- copying that one scene in Zulu [https://youtu.be/XSEU5zHgcTc?t=18s], I mean just try picturing that with a chorus that includes a Portal Turret and the rest of the characters I named.
- The more warrior-y types on the team having a killcount contest going, but then the anime teenage girl nonchalantly one-ups them all with a number like twice their highscore, and then the turret gives a number that's like three times that.
- Everyone getting masses of character development and their own arcs, so they eventually end up like a crew of totally badass total bros like the Mass Effect crew.

He wasn't being very Brian Blessed in that film though, which was a bit of a disappointment. Especially after he quotes that film in moderate to heavy Brian Blessed nowdays.

Though, I do love that scene, and the one from Zulu.

Infiltration specialist: My female Dovahkiin assassin
Soldier: Guts
Assault specialist: Link
Melee specialist: WTF was I thinking? Batman!
Strategist: Paul Altreides
