Why has no-one said Shodan from System Shock 2 or The Boss from Metal Gear Solid 3? I guess it's up to me. I choose Shodan from System Shock 2, and The Boss from MGS3. Also, what's the deal with everyone liking Alyx from HL2? I mean, she was a pretty well written character, but nothing particularly interesting. Fair enough, I didn't actually play it all the way through so maybe she does something completely awesome at the end like give you a, erm... use your imagination to finish that sentence, so I don't get banned.

Uh....I can see why that be your favorite female character "ThePlasmatizer" she's very....OK then I'm at a lost for words at that one as I don't want to sound like an idiot but as for my favorite female character it would be Commander Olivia Shepard. She's basically nice against aliens and angry when talking to humans. Its funny as when you choose the renegade choices you tend to be anti-alien but when you choose paragon your pro-alien.So basically you tell an Alien "Good Job" then say to the human standing next to him "I think we should ditch him".Otherwise it would be Cortana as she is an computer program and unlike most video game women she doesn't strip as she's in your head as your little angel. She's pretty nice to have.

I didn't just choose her because she's lush, she's a good character and she's also hilarious.

Funnily enough my decision was between Franziska and another whip wielding woman, but that's entirely coincidence :p

I quite liked Midna from Twilight Princess, but my favourite would be either The Boss or Alyx.

Cammy, Chun Li, Ibuki, The bint from Ico, Vanessa K. Schneider, Sylvia (Viewtiful Joe), Lei Fang, Lara Croft...

There are just too many - hopefully we'll soon be able to add Bulleta to the list.

I don't know why people are so hung up on women in games not being two dimensional when the vast majority of the men are just as devoid of genuine character traits.

Chell from 'Portal' is by far the most compelling female character of any game.

I don't know if she counts though; I never figured out whether she was human or a cyborg/android.
The android thing was simply a pre-recorded message for when anyone completes that particular course; remember, it was a course for androids. And, btw, I'm pretty sure there's an e at the end of Chelle.

I'll skip the ones that have been mentioned to death, but say joanna dark, from the original Perfect Dark, mind you. in PDZ, she went more toward the Badass action girl, albeit rarely super serious. And wtf happened to here accent between the two games? Granted, the games were years apart, but still.

Monica from Dark Chronicle.
She kicks arse. And she can time travel. And she battles one of those guys with silver hair, who I really don't like. If they have long hair, I call them "Sephiroth Rip-offs".

Chun-Li. Just...Chun-Li.
I hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate Chun Li.

She's a turtler's dream.

As for my favourite characters, Elena from Street Fighter III is one, and...possibly SHODAN from System Shock.

Quistis from FF8, is one for me, mostly because I can relate to her character. (Er, not the overachieving prodigy part XD;) Frustrated easily by personal problems, unable to connect with the person you like, and constantly questioning yourself despite putting out a stronger image. (Quistis vs Franziska whip battle, anyone?)

Hmm .. Garnet from FF9, I'll also add. I was wondering if anyone would be nifty like Tifa in FF7, having been forced to deal with Rinoa in FF8, and Garnet was a refreshing character. She was a princess and sheltered, but she took matters into her own hands, and was steadfast in that. She went through a hell of a lot, but still came out of it a better person. Plus, she put Zidane in his place. XD I was rather fond of her, really.

I'll join in the PW female character debate! I'll pick Ema Skye. XD I know, she was supposed to be a Maya clone to be Phoenix's sidekick in the fifth case of the first game, since Maya was back in Kurain, but in Apollo Justice, she really grew up and .. well, became insanely touchy. I don't know why, I liked the fact that they had her fail her proficiency exam and have to be a detective. She's following her sister's path (probably one of the reasons she's so irritable about it) and she's got some pretty nifty one-liners in the game ("Why can't we have a straight-forward killing in this country?!") And .. yeah. She's my pick. <3

The Boss from Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. I've already explained why several times and I don't feel like recreating that essay over again.
