The fact that every character really follows the same story, so its a bunch of clones running around with different names and stats, but really accomplishing the same goals and quests. -3
Less of a 'play like your a person in the starwars universe' more 'YOU ARE THE HERO, YOU ARE LEGENDARY, BUT OH WAIT, SO IS EVERYONE!!! Garbage they are preaching almost every dev interview. -3
hahaha!
sorry but the difference of a "MMO" and a "normal game" is that in the MMO everybody is playing the same game at the same time.
so if you play your Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic game (first one for example) remember that you have a 50% chance (dark side light side; roughly seen) of having the same character as 1.000.000 other players.
and since the first knights of the old rep. was a stand alone game it had prescripted events and outcomes so you are having the same experience and endings as all the "others".
when i played KOTOR 1 & 2, it felt for me like some sort of MMORPG without the Online multiplayer part:
you had a real time, turn based, ability and gear checked/dependent combat system(which i sometimes disliked. i wished it would be skill based like Jedi Academy or at least Mass Effect.. but that is another story)
you had the chance of avoiding some enemies but you still fougth them to gain, guess what? experience and money so you can 'upgrade' your character/sword and so on.
and you searched every corner of the maps to get the best parts for your lightsaber/blaster.
yes! this is called grinding.
and you had quest structures that required D amount of O for dude/dudette N on planet T or speak to/convince dude/dudette S not to harm dude/dudette U in exchange for his life/C amount of K.
so it makes for me some sort of sense that they continued it as an MMO.
(now you have the chance to play PVP and see if you really are that good)
the only downside is that the story is slightly based on the previous ones and be monthly subscibtions.but i need to do some research about the game before i can argue about it.
all i'm going to say that you could give it a try (i think it will have a free trial time)
and stop bitching about not being a offline MMORPG like the other ones were.
and the 'YOU ARE THE HERO, YOU ARE LEGENDARY'/your are THE villian, you are the Crème de la Crème of malevolence' BS. seriously? you haven't figured that out yet? like being in every F**king game..
