the newer gens of pokemon. I've noticed only some people like them and everyone else only likes the original 150.
Now my question is why?

They're bitter and nostalgic. Also, they probably had to give their game-boys to their younger siblings, and were thus unable to experience the AWESOME that is the second generation.

Well I like the second set too, but the new ones get more and more ridiculous and suck. But Pokemon are still cool.

I don't question the hate. Some people dislike it because they felt it should have ended. A lot of those people (NOT ALL) associate that with the dislike of the anime once it got past the original 150.

My, I still enjoy the series. I wish they'd change some things around (like do something aside from beating gym leaders... why not let me join team rocket for a change?) Some new pokemon look stupid, but I only go for the ones I think look cool.

Well you have to keep in mind the generation gap, i grew up with the original 152 pokemon, now i don't exactly hate the new gen of pokemon, but i definitely don't love them as much as the original. Now a lot of the new pokemon are just a stretch in my opinion.

150 are pretty straightforward to remember. 60,000 or whatever they are up to now is just excessive. (especially since scyther and rhydon/rhyhorn were the coolest pokemon ever made) is probably a fair amount of nostalgia in there too though. Seriously though scyther never got it's due. It's a f**king human sized bug that sprints at ninja/invisibility speed and can cut through trees with one swipe of it's blade arms.

for me, i like them because i know all of them, i can recite the entire first gen in order by #, nostalgia (even more so seeing as pokemon blue version was the first game i ever owned), and because the didnt look like they were intended for 3 year olds, i mean, look at a charizard, then look at a bidoof, one is a big, obviosly powerfull, somwhat scary dragon, the other is a cute cuddly beaver, look at a staravia vs a fearow, again one is scary and strong and feirce, the other is too fresh and cudley looking

The reason why most of the community that hates it does, is due to how stupid the origin stories got. I mean fair enough, the second gen, we could have discovered more pokemon. But Aliens later on? Then we have the ultimate shark jump: You can capture the f*cking creator of the pokemon universe [http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Arceus_(Pok%C3%A9mon)].

A bit much there, shoving God into a pokeball.

I would say because I only know the original 151 and stopped paying attention before the new ones came out. Then all the other littler kids would start talking about metal pokemon or whatever and I was all like "damn kids these days! Back in my time there were 151 pokemon and that's the way we liked it dammit!"

Mainly because of nostalgia and the fact that some of the new ones look silly.

The anime might have something to do with it as well.

For me it's a case of "It should have ended there"-syndrome.

Ruby completely dropped the ball. All it did was change location and have new Pokemon. The charm with Gen 2 was that it added to the original game. You could visit both Johto and Kanto.

Then in Gen 4 the Pokemon designs got completely fucked up, and they still couldn't include the older regions.

Gen 2 was the best in many ways, and the remakes proves that there was nothing stopping Diamond/Pearl/Platinum from doing something similar.

I think it because Nintendo kinda ran out of cool things to do
girl-checking poke'dex"OK so we got the elements, time, space, all the human emotions, what else is there to go for?"
guy- "isn't it obvious?"points up* "We go for GOD!"
girl-continues to check poke'dex "nope, we got that too"
shows meeting of poke'mon developers working on the next generation*
developer "F#%K!!!"
~flash cartoon who's title I can't remember.

I like all the pokemon up to the ruby and Sapphire.
All the newer pokemon just look stupid. (in my opinion.)

I dislike the new ones because I think it needs to end. The original 151 were awesome and the idea hadn't been done before (as far as I know anyway), but with each new generation they bring, you can bet that they also remake one of the older games, just with more of the little buggers to capture.

Wow, I'm so sick of "why all the hate on" threads.
Look, this is what I've noticed: most of the time when people "hate on" games is when someone else brings them up in conversation, or (on the internet) in "things you don't get along with" threads.
What this thread is basically saying is "people have a different opinion than me and that's just wrong".

THe newer pokemon are lame, they have a different art style. They're all spiky and queer, right angles all over the place.

Also there's the fact that some of them are completely pointless. When I played pokemon red I remember the first critters you come across are the pidgeon pokemon and the rat pokemon. Recently I started playing one of the newer ones and the first pokemon I came across was a Sparrow one and a mouse one. I mean c'mon, use some imagination.

Also, nostalgia, but the newer pokemon suck too.

There's just too many now and once you think you know all of them BAM they slap a whole new set on ya. It's to confusing to handle and my brain is about to burst.

My vote goes toward nostalgia, not to mention some of the new ones look retarded.
Some of the old ones looked retarded. I mean, Voltorb? Seriously? What about Magneton? You just shoved three Magnemites together! Or Dugtrio, which was the same except it was three Diglett's instead.

And Ditto. Oh, Ditto. A big pink blob with eyes and a mouth. That's it. Incredible.

People need to get off their faphorse about the older generations looking so good. They're just as uninspired (Rattata, the rat pokémon. Wow.) and ridiculous (Porygon) as the new ones.

"Right angles" indeed.
