Its probably not so common on this site, but almost all of the people that I talk to about it, they are usually dismissive of it. I don't understand it. The basis of there arguments are stupid, too. The only thing they can use to back up their argument is that some people abuse it. Albeit, that is true, that is really the only negative of it, while it's that and more for both Facebook and Myspace, like FarmVille, the scam it is. I personally love using mine (@voltysquirrel) but nobody else uses it. Is there anyone else who just refuses to us Twitter?

I have never had the urge to dictate every moment of my day online that is why i don't use it
also why would you not want to just have more fun instead of saying that you are having fun.

I'm not a fan.
Mostly because I don't like talking to people about important things. Updates on the trivial would kill my soul.

I don't hate twitter, it's just pointless. Why do you need to let people know what you're doing every second of the day, when you're taking a piss, washing your car, eating a bagel, whatever.

If someone such an egotistical jackass that feels that everybody needs to know what the almighty is doing at all times, then they should stick their head in a bucket of water and leave it there.

I don't use Twitter, not because I see it as a scam or anything like that but because I just don't really see the point. Maybe I've not given it too much of a look, but I don't really like the sound of the character limit to each post. That's my only real complaint about it (silly, I know).

The biggest thing I hate about Twitter?

It's shallow.

It's just there for people to make shallow updates on what they are currently doing. It annoys me.

I don't see the value in it. It's as if someone saw the Status feature on Facebook, thought "Yeah that's good" and made a site based entirely on that.

Also, I don't care about peoples day to day lives and thoughts and I don't expect them to care about mine, in fact, I think you'd be hard pushed to find someone who is genuinely interested in the fact that you're getting coffee, or if you think your food is a bit cold.

Sure, it might be good for celebrities to socialise a bit without giving away their private Facebook accounts, but aside from that, there's nothing original or useful in the idea.

I personally find it boring, mainly because I'm not into many social sites, as I live in my basement

Well I don't hate it because the whole vampire civil war and attacks by werewolves is pretty cool and Alice is sooo yum :3333 but why people hate it is because Belle has no personality and it's destroying Kirsten Stewart's career ooooorrrr it's because Edward is a girls version of a perfect guy.
I don't understand this post, but it does make me wonder what is going on Twitter.

I enjoy it. I'm very self indulgent. Also, many of my Escapist friends are on it. You know who you are. :)

I think it is pointless and consumes the soul of whoever uses it. Like pokemon! ... but far less fun and not even close to being worth giving your soul over ... Praise Pokemon!

In case you didn't guess I got Heartgold yesterday and my nostalgic experience of non-drug-ecstasy is making it hard to breathe .... in a good way.

Because its got people like Miley Cyrus and Ashton Kutcher talking about random shit like what latte they're getting.

Who the fuck cares????!!!!

Its also full of a bunch of teenage girls who won't shut up about random bullshit like their favorite Twilight character of the moment.

Basically it's an excuse to stalk someone over the internet. If I wanted to know the Jessica Simpson popped a pimple on her ass, I'd call her up and ask.

I never saw the point in it- I also never even knew there was hate for it. I just dislike social networking sites in general. They are a breeding ground for people who think their lives are important and that other people care about what they are doing at a specific time and a specific place. Not that I am accusing you of it, but from my experience there are far too many people like that.

I refuse to use it, because I don't care for it and never have. The idea of it doesn't appeal and like most other people have already said, it's pointless. It has no real use to it.

It just seems full of egotistical people, thinking all that they do is important enough that everybody should know about it. It only seems to inflate this ego.

Then there are the people who I loathe with all my being, the people who buy the gossip mags to find out which female celebs have had a chocolate cake and put on an ounce of fat/which celeb has had an affair/which celeb has had a boob job ... who gives a massive fuck? Apparently, the people who have no lives of there own so have to stick there noses into other peoples business.[/rant]

It is just a very petty and bitchy thing that does nothing but further ruin girls lives, the girls read these articles about celebs with a little fat see that it's being portrayed as a bad thing, so starve themselves so they have no fat, so ruining there lives. Just incase you didn't know it can effect fertility.

Thats a little off topic though, so swinging back on topic.

I could only think of a few uses for it, mostly announcing things. Weddings, funerals, parties, new members of the families etc. Then fair enough announce away but saying your popping to the shops is just a waste of time and effort.
