I don't hate it. I just don't really pay attention to it. It isn't really something I want to follow.

I suppose if I really wanted to know about someone, I'd follow their blog. But I don't even do that, so I don't really see why I'd follow their life sentence by sentence.

I do think it's odd how much hype it gets in the media. Considering the number of people who actually use it, it's kind of like hyping up all the pistachio ice cream addicts in the world. When news stories first started breaking on Twitter only something like 3% of American's had an account. And having an account didn't mean you actually used the service. It's a non-news story, yet it gets the coverage of a social phenomenon that a much larger percentage of the population takes part in. Obviously more people use it now, but I wonder how much of that is because CNN said we were all missing out on the next big thing.

I use Facebook to stay in touch with my friends, friends who know it themselves say useless garbage on the wall more often than not. Twitter for me would be that only ten times worse. Facebook works for me for my small usage of it, twitter would only tell me my friend has:

Guys I gotta take a huge dump!
BIG dump in progress!
Dump COMPLETE

because that's what he will txt every so often. So while I'm sure some people will get use out of it, I really don't need it.

I signed up to see what all the fuss was about, and didn't see a point.
Same here the only reason I can see twitter being useful is if their is a breaking news story of the upmost importance.

I just didn't see a point... unless the point is, in fact, to update everyone on absolutely everything, every single second of the day, and follow shallow assholes like Miley Cyrus.

I know some people that have Twitter accounts for specific reasons--following certain sports columnists and such (my boyfriend does this with MLB stuff)--and that's all they use it for. Seems mildly pointless, but if that's the only way you can keep in touch with certain people like that, then okay, fine.

I had a Twitter account for a very short time, actually, and tried to find things about it that I liked. The only real 'plus' that I gave it was that I could update however the Hell often I wanted, and no one would complain. I don't do that anyway, so I promptly closed my account. I decided that it was a relatively useless thing to have, seeing as I have a perfectly good Facebook account that I update every day or two, and a MySpace account that has more or less been lost in the sands of time... probably because of Facebook.

I'm not a fan of the social network sites in general, and no, you don't need to point out the obvious.

I dont hate it, I just dont use it. It seems like a site where people spew out useless and boring information about their life, and Considering that my life is boring(just the way i like it), it would be a waste of 10 seconds to update my twitter account. I could be using those 10 seconds to play video games, or read a book, or sleep.

See, from what I read, all I saw was people calling it a glorified status update for egotistical people who need their daily activities to be known. While that is generally true, it's pretty much the same damn thing on Facebook, Myspace, Buzz, etc. Personally, I found that I would post on my Twitter what I generally would on my Facebook that gets filled up with requests to play ScamVille or to take some BS quiz. I really don't update it that often, just on the off chance I watch a good movie or something. Not only that, I would really only follow people like Major Nelson, Susan Ardent, and the Escapist to keep track of news or whatever. Besides, how else would I get free crap for my XBL account?

It's annoying. I will never ever "tweet" about my life. It's even more annoying that you can tweet to livejournal...

I would never update it, and would frankly feel silly if I did.

Hell I succumbed to peer pressure and finally made a facebook page, that I never check.

[sarcasm] All the fun of having the masses of the internet able to provide their commentary about the various mundane things a person's doing in their day. [/sarcasm]

The idea might work fine if it was being privately used in professional settings, where up to the minute reporting makes a difference to a wide audience. It's like they're trying to facilitate an audience too bored and apathetic to just call their friends and check on how they're doing.

I didn't see the appeal in blogging so needless to say I don't see the appeal in a blog that you constantly update with minor details.

I dislike Twitter, these are the reasons:

I dislike the idea of following people

I think "tweets" is a really stupid name just for posting a comment

The idea of shallow updates constantly makes me not want to go there, if I want to talk to someone I want it to be a little more important then "I'm eating skittles"

Finally I think it's stopping people from actually talking to anyone. I have a friend who spends all day on Twitter but the rarely talks to anyone in real life and she is so miserable as a result (I've known her for about 7 years and she used to be a very happy person)

However most social networking sites are all the same and I think are mind bogglingly boring and I don't understand the people who spend their entire evenings on it
