Why are kids such brats

I've heard this all before. children are children are children - no better or worse than they have been for millenia.

That's very unfortunate. I'm 14 but still have manners, and I hope you didn't encounter anyone my age with a bad attitude, although you almost certainly did.

I think this is just because of bad parenting. Bad home lives and encouraged swearing can lead to this. I only swear rarely, hardly ever to offend, and sometimes to add emphasis to my speech, but never like your circumstances.

I agree. I only swear around my friends and never to adults. Im 14 too and i hate kids like that. It is prehaps the most effective form of birth control

becuase parents have to both work nowadays to be able to afford kids, you used to have kids that would always have someone looking after them but now because of the monetary requirements, children are having to be left to their own devices and kids are inherently assholes, more so with not enough guidance

Im 17, personally I think most parents suck nowadays, I was beaten for simply being annoying, these kids could call me some racial bullcrap, right in front of the mom, and somehow not get in trouble

Because society right now is geared towards teaching young people that they're totally awesome and everything they think matters. Our culture right now glorifies people who are young, rich, dumb as shit and obnoxious. And I'm a twenty year old saying this, so I'm hardly out of the target age range.

Who are our stars right now? Teenagers, or very young adults. Today's pop stars and rappers get huge at a high school age by acting like tools and never having to do any work. These are the people we're taught to idolise in society, and an awful lot of tweens and younger kids (not all, but a lot) are too stupid or naive to realise we all hate these people, and that they won't get anywhere in life like that.

Who gets huge portions of entertainment marketed to them? Tweens and teenagers. They get cash from their parents like water, and since they get it without having to do any work, they spend it like wildfire. They have cell phones at that age (God knows I didn't) and vote on American Idol and throw money at material things like it's water.

Suddenly, marketing executives care about catering to a huge youth market, so now every tween believes that the world exists only to serve their needs and their identity. They have a huge sense of self-entitlement, and that they don't need to earn anything because society glorifies everything about young tweeny-bobber douchebags who buy into this ridiculous culture. It's fucking shameful and disgusting.

Without discipline kids act like a young pup, they try to get away with anything and without leadership and strength they run wild with no respect for rules.


Parents nowadays preach showing your children your weakness', all that does is allow them to manipulate you. Kids without rules or proper leadership are cruel, horrible creatures, it is the truth.

I'm not saying beat a kid I'm saying you need to establish you are the leader and they must follow the rules or there will be a punishment and parents must follow through. Now personally I dont like kids at my current age, maybe in the future but not right now.

That's not the kid's fault. It's shitty parenting. Most modern parenting consists of buying your kids' love and then shoving your values down their throat.

I blame the parents as well but the kids are the one doing it shouldn't we judge the kids more so then the parents?

No, no you cannot. In the early proccesses of the human mind, things change and decide how a person will come out.

A child is a blank slate. They didn't come built in with swearing, they learned it from other people.

They don't come with morals built in, they learn that from god willingly their parent or guardian.

I refuse to believe that when I was forming I was exposed to only my mother for most of my life she is a nice person who believes sprinkles and butterflies live around every corner, but I still grew up to be a sarcastic little asshole who just happens to behave(down to the same taste in food).

So you were sheltered all your childhood and never interacted with another person ever? You never watched TV, or listened to the radio or players games that could effect you in anyway?

I never swore at or around adults when I was a kid. Even now I respect people and only curse when I am around friends that don't mind.

As a child when ever I acted out I was reprimanded immediately, even in a store. I would get a swift slap to the bum. Plus media today is pretty messed up, and parents let their children watch or do what ever they want. Kids today are growing up with no guide lines or morals and it's all the parents fault.

I have to heavily disagree with this. I was punished as a kid when I got out of line. The end result was I started to loathe my parent's existence, wether being that I refused to accept them or feeling betrayed/wronged. To this day, I've developed emotional issues, a violent nature and still hold a grudge against my father for what he did, even though it's not that I don't love him... but a part of me is still full of rage for everytime I was hurt.

i had my ass handed to me for every immature thing i done. the result? a mature, intelligent, well spoken, and respectful 10 year old that rivaled some adults. I quickly gained many adult friends and left the immature brats behind. I rocketed from childhood to adulthood and don't regret a single thing. As long as you EXPLAIN what they did wrong they will understand. You need to show they are EXPECTED to go ABOVE societal norms, and if they fail to meet them there will be serious repercussions, yet give them freedom. A hard thing to do when you're a single parent which this society seems oh so keen to glorify. single parents are not empowered, they are overworked and it takes more than one person to raise a kid. Hell i technically had 5 parents who all raised me. They all say "look at that single mom, she is so empowered!!!" when in reality she is subjected not only to the soul crushing middle management of a man but also the burden of teachings and raising children generally viewed for women. that is too much for one person, and no one should willingly try to juggle everything by them selves.

I don't swear a lot, When I was a kid I think I swore once and my dad washed my mouth out with soap. I made the connection that soap in my mouth was not nice and that swearing would result in more of that, so guess what I understood that swearing was not something I should do unless I wanted my mouth washing out again.

Its down to boundaries and disipline, kids need structure, rules and limitations.
