Honestly, I think it's made out to be much more common than it really is.
I've personally never been at all attracted to images of lesbian sex, even if I find the women involved to be attractive individually. The strongest reaction I've ever had to lesbians in real life is 'oh, they make a really cute couple.'

I've actually heard of a study done on this, and one of their findings was that sperm motility increases when men watch two women having sex, even more than watching "straight" porn. Whether that study can be trusted, I don't know, but I thought it was interesting because it might indicate it being more than just a fetish, that there might be some biological reason behind men finding lesbian porn arousing.
Lesbian porn bores me. Except for extreme lesbian porn it's all foreplay, and I usually skip that part in straight porn.
The same reason women are attracted to gay men. Anyone who doesn't believe that this is a thing...One, stop being a dumbass, and two, look at any teenage fandom featuring more than one attractive male character. You will find a ton of evidence.

We also need to find a non-offensive male term for a gay man, like lesbian for women. Why should gay women get a gender specific, non-offensive word for themselves?

I actually kind of wonder if this whole lesbian turn-on thing is overstated. After all, the vast majority of porn targeted towards straight guys involves straight pairings even when no actors are involved. It's entirely plausible that the guys with the lesbian turn-on are just a very loud minority with many guys who don't have the turn-on lying about it to fit in.
I was going to try to explain it, but you've actually nailed it. While I'll admit I don't read or see softcore stuff usually (although I'd find it very cute likely), there's something romantic or cute about lesbians that straight/gay-male pornography just can't nail. Another example of what I mean is if you compare say disco music to women's music (yes, it's an actual genre). But, really, the idea of two people having a homosexual realtionship is something that deeply disturbs me. While I would NEVER go and try to hurt someone's feelings on this matter, I still would prefer if they just stayed away from me, and I will (And do) likewise with them. My opinion isn't special, and it may not be right, but in my eyes it is, and it IS my opinion. I'm heavily turned off by watching two lesbians go at it. Just as a statement, I'm pretty sure that I'd be even more turned off by two dudes.

I don't know, I'm attracted to women and not men and lesbian porn is like double the woman and none of the dude... Although I do enjoy it I feel it loses a lot when you think about the fact that it's aimed at guys and few, if any, lesbians actually make love like that...
