Why Are The Generation 1 Fans the Biggest Complainers About Each New Pokemon Generation?

I think a lot of it has to do with aesthetics. I haven't personally played many Pokemon games but the first few generation seem to look better, at least in my opinion A lot of the new gen pokemon just look very cluttered, this picture should hopefully provide reference.

To be honest, the thing that bugs me the most in modern Pokemon games is that the design of new pokemons seems lazy. Gameplay hasn't improved much over the years either.

Could be because I grew over it I guess.

I don't know what you exactly mean by lazy but I can't see how you could call it lazy when the newer generations are generally more detailed (except Tornadus and his clones).

I reckon it has more to do with that most of the newer designs just aren't memorable at all. Some of them also look too detailed with certain pieces hanging off not adding anything to it. Also, I reckon the lengendary's in the first 3 generations stood out a lot more from all the others in their generations.
The thing is though is that what's not memorable for us will be for the younger generation.
For instance there are a lot of people now that are having a nostalgia fest for Generation 3.
I don't believe it works like that, though it will be true for some of them.

Why would it not work like that? We grew up with Generation 1 and 2. Therefore it is the most memorable generation of Pokemon for us.
If a kid were to grow up with Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald they would have a nostalgia for Generation 3. They wouldn't instantly say wow this generation sucks. In fact most of them might even say compared to third generation, the last two look kind of dull.

That's just guess work. Some designs are just more memorable than others. It could be their shape or texture, it just works. You can compare Pikachu to most and it would easily stick out more.

I'm talking generally here, but if you want to talk facts, nostalgia doesn't blind everyone, possibly most. I don't know how you could get statistics on that so it's not much of a discussion.

When one is much older to be more analytical about that perhaps they can determine for themselves what generation had a better design.
However you don't really need statistics to say that a child who grew up with Pokemon from X generation won't have nostalgic feelings about said generation because based on your opinion Generation 1 and 2 were well designed Pokemon.
People still remember Pikachu because he's a mascot of the franchise. They make sure nobody forgets him by putting it on merchandise, plushies, television shows, etc. Charizard makes a second, seeing as how they just re introduced the Pokemon onto Ash's team a couple of episodes ago.

I ment to say that they don't putt much thought into it, although after reading your comment it seems they overthink them in some cases. Detailing has nothing to do with them. And yes, they are less memorable, not to mention the ridiculous names some have.

There are still some awesome designed ones between them but some of them just like Vanillite (and it's evolutions)and Chandelure are more like this: Look a *insert object here* let's make a pokemon out of it.
