I respond with a open handed slap across the face then say it's more fun to talk to my invisible friend in my head.

I'm not anti-social. I just can't talk. 99.9% of conversations between people are about virtually nothing of substance. I can only participate in such conversations if I'm among a group of people and not expected to provide the brunt of feedback. In that sort of situation, I thrive. When I'm with one other person, there is only silence.

Don't get me wrong, though, when that 0.1% of interesting non-bullshit comes around, you'd be hard-pressed to find a better person to talk to than myself, but when it comes to trivial matters, I've got nothing. I just don't know what to say, which leads to me not talking, which ends with people almost never talking to me. As you can imagine, I'm quite the depressed loner because of this.

EDIT: Oh yes, and I'm shy. That contributes a bit to my social cripple-ness.

I am officially quoting you out of context Sky. :D

I'm antisocial until I get to know you, then I'm a offensive-funny-nutcase who if he brought that part of him to The Escapist, would be like MaxTheReaper and then get banned.

Because people really aren't that interesting. I feel dirty if I ask people questions that I don't really care to learn the answers of. So I shut up most of the time.

My usual response is to remain silent and think to myself "Because I am full of hate. I hate you, I hate them, I hate me, and I hate everything everywhere except for a few choice people and things." Though what I actually say is along the lines of "Because I hate people". Or maybe a growl... that seems to work too. *Shrug*

Generally because I dislike most people. Unless I like them in a "love" type way (which is only girls), most of the time whenever I meet someone, they instantly go into my "Hate" category. Because I don't like most people.

I just don't have any people skills.
Or phone skills for that matter.
As a matter of fact, I think I have a mild phone phobia.
Besides, "even a fool is considered wise when he remains silent."

Pretty much the same. You can't be considered anti-social if you actually, you know, SOCIALIZE with people, even if it's not always in person. There's a difference in not mingling or hanging out with people in person and just not having good people skills. I've met plenty of people in person that had worse people skills than those I've played with online.
Exactly, I may not socialize much in real life, but on the internet I'm constantly chatting on forums and IRC. Besides, I tend to mess up my sentences a lot when I talk out loud. I'm not known for my charisma <_<

Why not instead of being so jerkish with your answer, you reply with what you have told us. Lot of people are just trying to be helpful, lots of anti-social kids look depressed or sad, so said person might just want to help. Though sure they dont understand, its because your just being an ass so they can never understand.

why is it ok to hate social butterflies but anybody that dislikes anti-social behavior a dumbass worthy of death?

why is there so much hypocrisy on these forums? This is why gamers get a bad rap, people like you guys are full of such hate and anger that they just think all gamers are that way.

My response: "I am not antisocial. I am introverted. Solitary. Maybe even a little gruff and unapproachable sometimes, at least when people like you interrupt me in the middle of something like you're doing now. But I recommend you pick up a fucking dictionary and look up the term 'antisocial'. Or better yet, I'm at my computer, let me do it for you.

Here.

Antisocial (adj.) 1. unwilling or unable to associate in a normal or friendly way with other people:
2. antagonistic, hostile, or unfriendly toward others; menacing; threatening: an antisocial act.
3. opposed or detrimental to social order or the principles on which society is constituted: antisocial behavior.
4. Psychiatry. of or pertaining to a pattern of behavior in which social norms and the rights of others are persistently violated.

OK, I might grant you "unwilling or unable", but it's more because I'm just not in the fucking mood right now. Nobody should be forced to socialize, because that means you just flunked definition #2. Order is my highest societal value, so there goes #3 into the shitter, and you also flunked definition #4, which means according to psychiatrists, YOU are the one with antisocial personality disorder. Now go check yourself into a fucking nuthouse. I'm busy here."
