Because in fallout 3 the best (in terms of class) place to live was tenpenny tower and unless you exploited a glitch you had to do some bad things to get there but in NV you just waltz right in to vegas. Thats what put me off.

Its also that in F3 every settlement was completely differnt whereas in NV its Legion, NCR, Independent, Destroyed, Under attack and that never changed.

I started up a new game today, mostly to see if the new patch was up. It wasn't. I left Dr Mitchell's house and went to do that "training" mission with Sunny Smiles. But she bugged out and wouldn't move after the Sunset Sarsaparilla target practice. I'm gonna hold off.

I'm sort of looking forward to this playthrough though. I'm going for mostly persuasive skills (Science, Speech, Barter) and am gonna try to be an evil guy who manipulates people.

Personally, I liked New Vegas better than 3. I felt more motivated to hunt down the son of b*tch who shot me than i was to find my father, i mean seriously after spending all those years getting bullied by the tunnel snakes I was very content taking everything in Megaton before i nuked it. After that i just kinda stumble onto the main quests

I had the opposite problem, I could never get into Fallout 3 and yet I LOVE NV. I think it's just the small differences in the 2 games that can make or break it for some of us.

I just started playing it and I'm having fun with it. I just got to new vegas. I'm going to finish the story and then do side missions. Yeah its the same as fallout 3, but i do like that I can play it without only using vats.

Is that a bad idea?
Ok, before you go ahead and do that, once you finish the story that's game over.

I would suggest getting to the point where it gives you a prompt telling you that if you proceed you can't go back, saving there, and then finish the story. Then go back and load that save and explore.
Thanks for the advice. I'm going to do that with the save point.

As of now (without knowing the story) it seems pretty lame that its game over after the story, again.

Fallout 3 was a good game, but it was a shitty Fallout game. New Vegas is a great Fallout game, and a good game.
I agree!

I did have fun with Fallout 3, but it had very little to do with Fallout 1 and 2. The only things that were the same were some of the factions.
I love New Vegas and I'm probably going to start playing it again during the summer.

Also: One of the things that annoyed me in Fallout 3 were the companions. It was really annoying that you had to enter dialogue every time! I just think that New Vegas had improved on a lot of things that were in Fallout 3.
