Why did you join The Escapist Forums?

This is kinda related to my school project but also thought it would be interesting to ask. Out of all the forums in the world why did you decide to join these forums and stay here? Other forums you have joined and currently post in can also be shared if you would like. And i did search if there was any other topic like this and i did not find one.

My reason is because the first time a few days ago that i decided to check out the forums, i saw that they didn't have an entire section for introducing yourself and no really random topics that fill other forums to the brim.

I sometimes saw some interesting threads while watching ZP - few stupid people posting, some interesting discussions.

Mostly I just have lots of free time, and hate doing only one thing, so I signed up, enjoyed my first few days, made The Escapist one of my regular haunts to have something else to think about and type while watching a movie or whatever.

I was watching xplay and they showcased a preview of ZP. I came to the site to see the whole thing, but couldn't find it(I was stupid then). I joined the forums because I thought it might be on a members-only basis. Shortly afterwards, I found the ZPs and realized that the forums had their own value.

I tried to find forums where everyone was not on one side or the other. Also the inteligence and rational thinking of some members really helped my decision.

But, unfortunatly, racists, extremists, and trolls can smell oppertunity from a mile away. I fear the Escapist I joined will be ruined like other forum websites.

i came for yahtzee, i stay because it's the only forum where I can be respected for being me. That said, i think i've found a niche here. not everyone shares my experience here

I'm with everyone else with the no idiots part. about any others i have been to, the first forum i ever used was newgrounds but i quickly grew out of that.

I needed a place to post my idea for gladiatorial combat/Battle Royale as a way of solving the overcrowding in prisons, then I just kinda stuck around.

Haha you have every reason to be here. I was just curious as to those reasons and in school were designing forum pages and i was just seeing what everyone liked about this forum to give me a slight idea on how to go about making mine.

I was watching ZP, then I stared noticing the forum threads on the right side of the screen. Some of the titles got my attention, so I began lurking around the forums, and eventually said, "Eh, what the hell, I'll join." Best decision I ever made.

To be honest... just to go for the Fable 2 contest. But I ended up liking the place, so I decided to stay. So much better than any other forums I ever tried to get into =)
