It's probably the same reason people like Lady Gaga, it's not necissarily that it's good music, it's that it's catchy as all hell.

Well normally i would say

Lilium

or maybe even the

Lucky star intro

But I know the lyrics to those songs in English, so i will pick my other song choice

(don't even know that it is called)

I don't know what they are singing but i love it anyway.

I actually don't mind J-pop, and I'm a metalhead lol. It's just so happy. It's hard to hate something that obviously loves you and everyone else.
So yeah, I listen to a lot of songs where I have no idea what they're saying, cause they're growling or cause they're speaking a different language (or both). I don't care. It's the music, and vocal talent I'm interested in most of all, though lyrics can be cool, which is what google is for.

and knowing my luck that won't be pop.
Oh my. YUI! I love that song. It's lyrics are rather..emo, though.

Yes. Many. I'm a fan of J and K-pop. J-pop because of animes, and K-pop because..well SNSD is charming.
Then when I like the song very much I usually search up the english meaning. Most of the time it makes me like the song even more.

Not to be a smart ass but thats swedish.
And strangely enough, the Japanese version doesn't really sound as good as the Swedish or English versions.

Heh. I was a Megumi Hayashibara fan before I ever stumbled onto Blind Guardian. I sympathize with the odd contrast!

Considering I don't speak the language... meh?

Lyrics are kind of important to me. I'm more of a "poetry to melody" kind of guy, as opposed to "that guy is making awesome throat noises, oh, and they're probably words." That's why I gravitate towards art-rock and album-based music, and am not into certain genres of metal.

From a theme song for a series where a little boy tries to bring back his dead mother, creates a monstrosity instead, and gets his arm, leg, and little brother's body destroyed in the process? Surprising. :)

Personally I find J-pop to be one of the worst things ever devised by mankind, but whatever floats your boat. Aside from being incredibly irritating, I dislike lyrics I can't understand. I would rather just have an instrumental peice to be honest, or lyrics I can understand.

Because it's cute, adorable and has the ability to turn any situation into a happy one... so yes, it's very disturbing >>

But, I listen to mostly Japanese music right now and I only understand/speak a little, so yes, I like plenty of music in which I don't understand the lyrics.

I don't need to understand the lyrics to like song. I don't have a idea what's this Abracadabra song about, but i already love it.

It shall remain an eternal mystery.

I never really liked J-pop before I went to Tokyo for my year abroad, as I despise pretty much anything that can be classed as pop, but even after a year of near-constant exposure to it, pretty much guaranteed to drive anyone insane, I came away liking it. Even singing some of it at karaoke. I am so ashamed.

In response to the second part, I love French electro-swing, but it's been so long since I was forced to study French that I can't remember what half of the words mean.

I realise this isn't the best example as they do sing in English for a lot of it, but it's the best example I could find without having to go dig out my iPod.

It's a bit hard to explain why I like Jpop. I suppose I like the the beat and the sound to it. The one thing I find Jpop different to other non Japanese music it a couple of songs just sound more "Beautiful". Of course everyone got different view to "beautiful". When I say beautiful I mean the song got a nice flow and melody to it.
In my view the recent example of this is Utada Hikaru latest song "Goodbye Happiness"
Oh also no I usually don't know what they saying in the sound but I do look up the lyric in some music sites.

i think the reason i dont mind some jpop/. anime songs is cause i dont speak the languange so im not listening to the words. so the song has to be good for other reasons. like the beat etc.

anything is better than justin beiber and the other people like him :)

I don't like many songs where I can't understand the lyrics, but I do make an exception for this one:

Would you like to know what the lyrics are? :)

OT: There aren't many, right away I can't think of other artists than Promoe/Looptroop (on their Swedish production, I know only a bit of Swedish), Maximum The Hormone, The Very Best and Rohff.

Yes, I like J-pop. I can't understand a word, but it's so damn catchy and it never fails to put a smile on my face.
[sub]Thanks to Grey for introducing me to this one.[/sub]

I'm actually happy not knowing. Adds a little bit to the song, in my eyes.
