What is a scammer/spam bot? I am not well versed in Internet lingo. Could someone please tell me?
Scammer - Someone who will trick/coerce you into either giving them money or anything of value voluntarily
Spam Bot - Someone who vies for attention via flooding another's inbox with useless information, usually containing viruses

There's about 15% of facebook friends that I don't know. 11% are hot girls. Do you argue when a hot girl pays attention?

Oh and the other 4% are probably some drunk guys that I've met while I was drunk.

I have a rule on Facebook that I follow pretty strictly.

If I have never spoken to you, either in email, chat or in person, prior to your friend request I will not friend you.

There are more than a few people who are miffed over this, as they say I went to high school with them, or, they are my 8th cousin, or they know some guy I know. But I don't think I am being unreasonable.

I think these people just want more friends in their list. As others have said, it's a status thing.

So they can say "I have 5,000 friends on Facebook, everyone hates you that's why you only have 40"...

I get really pissed off when random Year 8's and Year 9's from my school add me, despite not even knowing just so they can look like they have a lot of friends. One kid from my school went and added like 200+ people in one day, just so he looks like he is super cool.

Then there is this girl at my school who is quite attractive, and has 2000+ people on her friend list because of all these random guys just adding her. Pretty funny stuff.

Because they are idiots who just want to increase number of their virtual friend so that they could please their miserable ego.

Those women tend to have like 10 friends, a bunch of random non-connected people. They are likely a bot trying to get money from you, don't add them. People can get a lot of a information useful about someone by being their friend on facebook.

Because 'random' people are lacking any definite plan or order or purpose; governed by or depending on chance; "a random choice"; "bombs fell at random"; "random movements"

If the person is attractive you will most likely friend them without thinking and assume because they added you, you must know them from somewhere. when in actuality it is most likely a friend playing a joke, a spam-type bot, or you may share a name with someone else (the later happens to me a lot since I share my first and last name with a Pro MMA fighter, as well as my height and weight, it's kinda creepy)
