I could make a long list of why I hate him but the big thing is how arrogant he is. When he was here in Australia and performing on Sunrise he lost his shit when someone simply touched him and he believes that he is this generations Kurt Cobain. There are few celebrities that I actually hate rather than dislike but he is one of them.

This is a big part of it for me.

Let me get this straight. I'm not a fan of the kids music at all. It's boring, pandering rubbish. But the kid does have talent. It's not that I've got a problem with him, exactly, I'm sure he's a lovely person if you get to know him (although the opposite can be argued that he's a complete dick, I don't know, I've never met him). It's mostly that he's a media puppet, his over-exposure is surely a testamant to that.

It pretty much encompasses everything I've got a problem with when it comes to music today; the reliance on image over substance; the inability to produce anything artistically valuable; turning expression into marketing; the retreading of pre-established trends and never showing any initiative, creativity or autonomy of his (their) own by attempting to break those trends and create something new and definitive.

But, then again, I'm just a cantankerous old fuck who thinks that music died shortly before the end of the 90's. What do I know?
