He's not scary because he's a stupid concept.

Faceless tall guy that...does what? Poofs people away? Stands there and looks menacing?

I watched maybe 3/4 of the Marble Hornets series, at night as well, and I found it to be funny. SHAKY CAMERA. OH NO I TOOK THE PILLS? WHAT DO THEY DO. OH GOD KEEP THE CAMERA ON ALWAYS. So over the top over something that had shown no signs of being actually dangerous.

Then again I stopped being afraid of the dark when I was a kid. As my dad always said, "The night is your friend, it means they won't see you coming." :p
Exept of course the one is hunting you is a personification of all evil in the world, the tall thin creature without a face with the ability to time-travel to teleport to the place you are behind you, mind-f*ck you with the "Slender sickness" ability, open your stomach and ripp-off all your organs while you are still alive and mind-f*cked, then let you die alone or give you the finishing blow, then maybe if he did a big mess with your body, Slenderman he will order a Proxie [if he have one nearby] or himself to set you on fire to wipe out all the evidence of your existance...

Well I've no idea who he is, so am judging solely on that picture. I guess the terror would come from his completely emotionless state. Those killers seem to be the most-business. You know, the Michael Myers kind.
This.
He is exactly like Micheal Myers.
He will not run, for it is inevitable
He will reveal himself well before he gets you.
He will get you.
Nope, I must say I disagree.
Micheal Myers do this cause is f*cking evil [like most of us say], and he like stab peoples....cause he is evil [yeah...no so good story for Micheal]. He go slow and just find creativive ways [or not] to kill his victims.

Slenderman....oh boy Slenderman is a lot of things, but I have have to describe him with one word is "Puppeteer".
Nearly all of his abilities is how he manipulate all his victims with many different ways:

-He can make only visible his presents to the one he want, and not to the others.
-He can take the appearance of another human being so he can the other trust him and in the end either Slenderman kill him or advice to do something that serves his plans.
-He can brainwatch control some peoples and make them his servants, the well known Proxies, and do his dirty work if Slenderman don't want to get invovled.
-He can take direct control a a person if Slenderman do mor easier his job.
-He have the abilty of Time travel. He can litterally bend time and space and teleport himself everywhere he like. And here also is the good part: Because he can manipulate tima and space, He can be in many places in the same time!!!!!

Yep, not like Myer at all.
Okay, I have only watched the Marble Hornets thing on Youtube. (and a few stories and myth's)
So yeah, if he were to be able to do all that, sure.
But from the Marble Hornet stuff I have only ever seen him standing there, and appearing.

And the evil argument.
I think they are both very evil.
Slender man just has a more distinguished factor.

Slendy rocking the suit.
Myers rocking the jumpsuit, he's expected to be filthy in his murders.
Yes, they are both evil, but one of the theories said that Slenderman is eivl cause......He is EVIL himself!!! He is literaly the gather of evil energy around the world and created this persona.
Also one other theory is Slenderman most of the times target only people they had a terrible tragety in the past. He is feed with the misery and fear of the others. He need this "aura" from teh other to cut his hunger. Also Slenderman was a legend from the early years of the humanity.
He first "know" appearance was in German in Medieval days.
Here is a clue of his existance:

The reason why he change his form from this is unknown.
In Halloween 5 (now comes the good shit) some old guy said that Micheal was in fact ''Pure evil'' or ''Evil incarnate''. I can't quite remember because I was soiling my pants.

They have a lot of things that set them apart, but the whole air about them just feels the same.
If anything I would say that Micheal is influenced by one such as Slenderman. Seeing as the people Micheal really sets his eyes on are also the unfortunate ones in life.

For me the reason is that I've had nightmares of Slender Man since I was a little kid... You can't imagine how horrified I was when I found out about Slendy couple of years ago in the internet. It was just creepy coincidence that this thing has been in my dreams always.

No one is obsessing over him anymore than anything else on the internet; he's just currently flavour of the week, I'm assuming as a result of that Slender game.

Mark my words, by next month idiots everywhere will be copy-pasting badly written stories about some other faceless entity from beyond the void.

Marble Hornets is great, though.

In short, it's the best kind of horror, the tension building kind. He's not scary in himself, we make him scary by thinking about him.
Ohhhhh yes. Agreeing with you there. He's creepy as hell, but because of the mystery and everything.

The collaborative nature of the character makes it the most effective: nobody can explain him or kill him off "for real", so he'll always be out there looking for you. Call it the Tethercat Principle.

It's a tall guy in a suit.

I don't want to alarm anyone here, but I'm actually pretty tall, and I've been known to wear a suit... so... jus' sayin'.

BAM!
Mystery solved.

I thought it pretty clear that he was influenced by some power since bullets did fuck all to him.
And now we know.
It was Slenderman, The Advocate of Death. Using one of his minions!

1. I don't believe in "good or evil", so the idea of the "personification of all evil" is nothing in my mind.

2. Boo hoo, he'll erase me from existence! Guess I won't be able to complain then, as I won't exist.

Know what can ACTUALLY rip me open? Large jungle cats. I'd be scared if one of THOSE was after me for sure.

As I said, I stopped being afraid of boogiemen in the dark ages ago. Things that don't exist aren't scary for me. Besides, even if he DID exist, with the powers you've described he's unstoppable, so why fret? I don't have the knowledge to fix it, so I'll leave it to the professionals, much like how I don't fret over the fact that the cosmos could up and destroy Earth at any moment via stray asteroid or something else. I don't have the ability to stop it, nor the knowledge to gain that ability. Thus, I simply carry on in life.

I didn't think Slender scary,I don't find the urban-legends scary. Then again, I don't find Creepypasta all that scary. I find REAL-LIFE things alot more scary.

It's just some mildly disturbing 8-foot tall creep in tight pants and a business suit, who must have alot of trouble eating sandwiches because he doesn't have a mouth.

Or maybe it's just the legend that he posseses children and makes them insanely disciplined but also insanely disturbed during adulthood, or something.

or, because it's very subtle. Clown who eats kids, scary because of context. Creepy twin girls, visually creepy. Creepy 8-foot tall nightmare in a business suit, scary because it's not hinted at what it really does (or can do) if you actually met it.

I love Slender Man stuff!

From what I gather the idea is he stalks people through photographs, videos... He seems to have an affinity for taking kids, leaving no trace of their disappearance. Though in certain stories and videos he seems to have branched out somewhat...

When you first see him, it's just a creepy image, an ethereal entity that appears in the background of photos. But once you've seen him, he'll be after you...

You'll see him more frequently. In pictures of you, in videos you take... Sometimes more clearly than he appeared before. Maybe even in the corner of your eye as you glance around... And when you look back, he's gone.

And soon you will be gone too...

I think it's because he's still shrouded in mystery. The unknown is frightening for us.

If you want a bit of srs deconstruction:

Slenderman has captured the imagination because he fufills many tropes of 'creepy', and his origin as a 'creation of the internet' has raised his popularity even further.

He is a permanent resident of the uncanny valley. He wears clothes and is humanoid in appearance and yet he is not human. The exact things which make him non-human are specifially tailored to psychological horror.

He is the unknown.
He doesn't move, he has no face, he's tall and skinny and in the original version has wisps instead of proper arms. He's basically a ghost or boogyman, but unlock those two he has not been in the cultural eye long enough to have all the extra 'less scary' baggage(cartoony 'friendly' ghosts or laughably unscary renditions) that these other 'monsters' have picked up over time.

Having no face means he has no readable emotions, no expression. You cannot understand him, you cannot relate to him. There's a lot of power in the face, in terms of emotional impact.

Think for a serious moment about a real life encounter with someone/some 'thing' with out a face at all, just completely blank. Be honest now, it's pretty damn unsettling right?

A zombie sits pretty much at the very pit of the uncanny valley. Zombies are so popular cause they're so human, and yet twisted into this frighteningly 'unhuman' thing. Slenderman arguably achieves this effect to even greater extent, possibly for the very reason that he is so 'alien', and yet he's right there wearing a suit like people do, looking almost like a human.

People like us we can understand, evil murders and beastial monsters we can understand. Even zombies we can understand. This 'thing' we cannot, for it is so alien, the opposite of animals or beasts, more like an 'object' than a living thing in how 'detached' it is, and yet with an intelligence or driving force there which leads it to do these things.
People are into that. A revenant or wrath like figure, who will stalk you and there is no way to escape, no way to confront. He is merely there, waiting to do creepy stuff when you're not looking.
Again, people are into that.

It also plays off countour bias. Big, rounded shapes are soothing. Sharp, thin shapes are dangerous and unsettling. It's an instinctive thing. He is unnaturally tall and quite skinny. Those tendrils that you often see coming from him are like long spikes. Contour bias again.

and finally, it picked up in popularity around the right dens of the internet to see it's exposure rise and people get into him. For example this recent resurgence is owed to that slender game.

-------
Ok so that wasn't really a proper deconstruction, but it did throw in a few relevant buzz words here and there. That counts right?

I still don't get how that is relevant to Slender Man. And did that even make sense?

Going to be unnecessarily pedantic here. I believe you have to say his name in full for you to get cut off. So if you say candlejack at the end then you basically just lose the peri
