MMO's are the future, you are in a world with 100's of people which you can interact with. It gives a sense of "anything" can happen, like another world. In normal online games you run around a map doing the same shit all the time. Also with mmo you feel like u achieve something and you got something to show for your work.. dont play anymore though theyre all just grinding which really sucks, and theyre all 3rd person so theres no skill required.. a FPS shooter MMO *Drools*

I don't really anymore, the only one i ever got into was Dungeon Runners, which was loads of fun until a recent update made it basically impossible for free players, limiting them to shit items. That basically ended my MMO experiences,

Because I enjoy talking to people, and an MMO is like an IM client with a game attached.
It's sad that MMO's have gotten to that point. I feel the same way. That's what it was like when I played WoW. But then all my friends got msn so it was fine.

They go beyond most games in terms of length and content. I mean wouldn't it be nice if some of the effort that you spent playing one game went with you when you started another?

Also for people with more then two friends, it is a nice way of being able to play with them, at the same time, instead of having to take turns.

There is an attraction to playing with a ton of new people online. Plus you can get with other people instead of being by yourself as you grind.

People play MMO's for different reasons.

I play it becuase I had friend that play them in real life. Also I find the whole expoloration thing rather fun, interacting with new people.

I enjoy it for the social aspects, If I wanted to grind compulsivly I would just replay DOT Hack. Its a game about an MMO.

For fun or to waste time when I'm bored. Sometimes I just don't have anything else to do.

It's because I have real friends I play with. It's loads of fun when you stay roughly the same level as them, we do loads of dungeons and stuff.
It used to be this. Now I mainly play to roleplay and often level new characters. Although most of my levelling is fueled by a wish to get gear to roleplay in.

I love the new avatar by the way.

My wife and I like to game together. The more 'traditional' multiplayer games are things like RTS, 1st person shooters or fighting games... things that require somewhat quick reaction times and such. My wife isn't too good with games like that, but things like MMOs are slow paced enough that she can keep up just fine without getting too harried. So they are the best way for the two of us to play together and level up our duos. That and we find endless joy in trying to find the 'best duo' of characters.

Community, meeting people, the idea of something really never "ending". A title that you know more or less will last years, and not be tosses aside in one or two when the sequel comes out and renders it obsolete.

All about community for me, I just love working with my friend, and guildmates, it's just nice to be apart of something bigger than yourself, like say a battleground in WoW. You don't really get that feeling in other games. Not to say the community if filled with only the best sorts, but there tend to be more people wanting to be nice people than there are dicks.
