I don't think they hate XBL players. They hate XBL assholes. Similar to how they hate PSN assholes. As well as the rare Steam assholes. And internet trolls.

Well from useing my mate's account i have met some pritty annoying dicks, however it's the same with PSN. Steam is the only online survace that seems to have little of them.

So basically what you're saying is, people hate assholes.

Because it seems that a lot of the players that use microphones, are incredibly obnoxious, offensive and annoying, so that even though only one player on your team is being an asshole, it becomes easy to generalize and assume that most players are assholes.

There is a stigma that if you're on Xbox live, and own a microphone and with the Greater fuckwad theory at work, then the large majority of people that are ON XBL then you see why they are hated.

Too many obnoxious children who are sorely lacking for mummy's backhand as they inform every person who gets a good kill on them that they are a "fag."

Some of the worst people in the world are on Xbox Live, sadly for the rest of us, they stick out a hell of a lot more than the other players.

The problem on Xbox Live isn't the assholes. They can be muted, ignored or mocked. The problem is that pretty much everyone plugs their mics in and then stays silent for the entire game because they're worried about some idiot yelling at them for talking. If members of a team are talking about a game, then pretty soon more players start talking, but this hardly ever happens.

You're right about that.

I'll tell you why. Swarms of fucking annoying little kids, especially in the more violent (and 18+... wait what?) games. Also too many creepy stoned guys and Internet thugs.
Not to mention the fact that things like ragequitting, teamkilling, glitching or griefing seem to be perfectly normal on XBL.
The day they invent bots with truely unpredictable, lifelike behavior is the day I disconnect my 360 from the Internet and never have anything to do with Xbox LIVE ever again.

Ok ok, for fairness' sake I must say that of course not ALL people on Xbox LIVE are bad, I have made a number of friends there (especially in TF2). But for every person I give positive feedback/a friend request, there are easily twenty people I have to give negative feedback/file a complaint on.

I've heard the "it's really just a loud minority that's bad" argument before, but sadly it's actually the other way around: there are reasonable, mature, friendly people on Xbox LIVE, but you have to get lucky to run into them. Don't believe me? Read the profile of a person selected at random from your recent players list and tell me if that sounds like someone you'd like to be friends with. At least in the games I play that's rarely the case.

I think it's unfair to say peoplr online are assjholes, some people just really are not good losers, and FPS' which seem to be the common denominator are testosterone fuelled and frustrating. I don't own a mic on the PS but I've used my gf's mic on XBOX and it was a good experience, me and a few guys talked to each other, and worked more effectively as a team... I've jus mixed two ideas sorry.

Some people can be really good people but don't take losing well so cme across as dicks, doesn't mean that they are.

Some good experiences can come as well but I admit they are a rarity.

Haven't you noticed though that we meaure the dickishness of a person based on how similar they are to ourselves. To somebody every body is a dick.

I'm always courteous and polite to people bu tsometimes I am reffered to as a dick, so there you go. We're all dicks.

There are annoying people on it that's why and almost all of them are either 13 and massive fanboys of something with a vocabulary maturity of a 5yr old

You see, the image people get of Xbox Live players is that of a 12-year-old kid with a headset and insufferable urge to talk. He'll either suck so much that his entire team will be, effectively, neutered, or he'll be godlike and make everyone not want to play.

You could legitimately make a chart about the frequency of these players depending on how well your day is going and whether you've heard anyone's voice cracking yet. It would be deadly accurate.

"OH MAI GAAAAAAAWD! DOOD U SUACK!" How is that in any way lovable? You see I'm an XBL player and I HATE and I mean HATE everyone else on XBL they're all stupid 9-year-olds who shouldn't even be playing the game or overcompetitive douschbags and nobody ever seems to be having fun so in short thats why.

OMG RACIST!!1

Oddly enough, I have XBL gold, but I almost never play online multiplayer. I turned it on with Saints Row 2 and Borderlands where it has the drop in/out thing, but I mostly ignored all requests to join up because I hadn't beaten the game yet. It was more interesting to have on Fable 2 just to hear all the chatter in the markets. Plus, there was that one time my friend got everyone in the town to sing Backstreet Boys with her.

[into mic] "Everybody..."
[sings back] "Yeah..."

Having never played XBL, I still feel a bud of resentment for them. This is because, anyone who would use the anonymity of the internet to exercise their right to be a twat to gain some sort of attention, will. This comes from online PC experience. The nicer ones tend to keep their mouths shut and just play. The wankers love spilling their mouth-excrement all over the place, giving the whole thing a bad vibe.

This is my 2nd post ever. Congratulations are in order.

OP, this is pretty much it. The reason XBL is mentioned more for this kind of thing is the fact that the target audience for most of the xbox games assholes as well as gamers.
