The Beatles.

Oh, gaming-wise? Kingdom Hearts. I can't stand it. I played the GBA one (bad choice, I know) and it put me off ever playing the series. People have said I should give the PS2 ones a chance 'cause they're miles better, but nothing at ALL about that game drew me in, none of the characters piqued my interest, and I just can't see what others apparently can.

But yeah, pretty much anything that is that popular is ridiculously overrated, even the good characters. I can't think of any specific popular characters that I hate, at the moment...

edit: Oh, anyTHING! I don't care much for ironsights. They don't ruin a game, but some people seem to regard them as essential to their enjoyment of a shooter, and it baffles me.
What annoys me is how far it goes sometimes. "Oh, I'm going to sight down this shotgun as if it was a sniper rifle! Fuck my front teeth and/or sternum!

OT: Why does everyone love modern music, like pop and rap?

Rap is for people who can't sing, it's speaking in small bursts with some bass in the background.

Pop: Possibly the most inane form of music ever, which couldn't possibly exist without autotune and voice filters. The people doing the work aren't the musicians, it's the people fiddling around on a computer editing the fuck out of them.

Really? I thought Blank was pretty crucial to the plot of Final Fantasy IX. I mean, without him they would never have gotten out of Evil For...

OOH!

I don't really 'hate' much of anything because when something comes along that I don't like I pretty much just ignore it and blank it (heh) entirely. At most I dislike things a bit, and then only hate them when they get shoved into my face.

So I suppose fanboyism is something that I maintain an active hatred for, because the only time I ever come into contact with it is when someone is fanboying about something else that I hate, so it's like a double barrel of annoyance.

I don't think any of that made sense.

Right now, the 3DS.

Typical conversation I have with 3DS owners:

"Hey I just bought the new 3DS!"
- "Wow, nice. A shiny new console eh? How'd you swing that?"
"I traded in my old DS. Got a cool $50 towards the purchase."
- "... but your old one was worth like, triple that amount. Bit of a ripoff, don't you think?"
"Nah, it's cool. It basically paid for my new games."
- "Oh yeah? What did you pick up?"
"Nintendogs and Lego Star Wars."
- "... Wait, don't you already have those games for the DS?
"Yeah, but these are in 3D!"
- "Ah. So how's the 3D feature, anyway?"
"It's alright. It hurts my eyes and kills the battery, so I don't really use it anyway."
- "FFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU..."

Bioware =p.

Boy, gona get a lot of hate for this, I'm sure... Well maybe not, now that I said it...
You've got a right to feel about them how ever you wish. I may love BioWare, but I won't attack someone for saying they don't. What I do have a problem with however, is when people feel the need to express how they feel about a game/game company by insulting its fans and saying they're idiots for liking something that they don't.
A lot of people don't feel like that, it's not uncommon for me or a lot of other people to be "attacked" for NOT liking something that others do. Opinions are some times taken too seriously...

When the original came out, it was different. It was Final Fantasy and Disney, two things that you'd think would never go together, getting smashed into one game. In my opinion, it's horrendously skewed toward the Disney side of things, why can't we visit Final Fantasy worlds? They're still miles better, your friends are right, but if you don't like saving the world via the power of friendship then the game will probably make you puke.
Yeah, the general theme didn't really sweep me up. I love Disney and I quite enjoy Final Fantasy, but it couldn't hold my attention. I love my friends, too, however I like to adventure to save the world, rather than rely on warm fuzzies. I guess a complete lack of interest in the characters didn't help me much there.

The whole reason you made this topic to say that you don't like Gordon Freeman, whilst knowing that a lot of other people do.

Most of all, however - there is absolutely no discussion value in these threads. You're not gonna change someone's viewpoint in the least and neither will their opinion change yours.
That's a whole lot of presuming to know my mind there, buddy.

I'd like to point you in the direction of the first word of my topic title.

I'd also like to point out where I thanked a poster for making a point about why he liked Gordon Freeman.

Finally, I'd also like to point out the discussion this topic has raised.

Thanks for your time.

I don't understand all the hype about Portal 2. The funny trailers? Okay, I've seen those. But Valve didn't need to push it by including some form of Portal element in every indie game. As an optional feature, sure, but I don't want to hear GLaDOS on Killing Floor if I'm not on the Aperture map.

And the whole first person perspective in Audiosurf gives me the same vertigo I get when I play Portal (not to say Portal is a bad game, just that it triggers motion sickness when I play it).

Alright, this might get me in trouble, but *charging up the flameshield*

Final Fantasy 9.

Sorry guys, but I really like the modern vibe that FF7 and FF8 were rocking. I get the "back to basics" emphasis of 9...but that's not what I wanted.

That, and the character design imo, was lamesauce. Aside from Vivi, who was an equal mix of "cuteness overload" and demonic black mage conjuring-ness.

Minecraft.

Worst game I've ever played by far.

And yes, I did play ET for the Atari 2600. It was shit, but the graphics were about on par with minecraft.

Fucking boring and fucking ugly.

You don't like it, big whoop. The people who enjoy blank are a lot happier playing blank than you will ever be feeling self-important for not liking blank, so get over yourself.
You just saw into my soul. Or read my mind. Or you share the same opinion.

ONWARDS!

The only time I don't understand when people like someone (or something) is when the person in question is a complete douche.

Michael Vick, Charlie Sheen, Mel Gibson, etc.

In the case of THINGS, I only hate the flame wars it causes.

COD and Halo. Come on guys, they are basically two very different shooters with the only overlap being the fact that YOU ARE SHOOTING THINGS!

People like them because they have a beat, and they make for supposedly good party/dance music. I don't care for either, but what baffles me is the culture.

"Yeah, we're a bunch of middle-class white guys imitating black and white artists who actually grew up with a shitty life. This is what makes us cool."

I don't really like Minecraft. I'm sorry, I'm just sort of a story-driven game guy, and I'm not the biggest fan of creation games. Ahem:

I don't like regenerating health. The only difference between difficulty at that point is how much I need to use cover. It also takes away from people who like to explore levels.
This my friend.
I hate regenerative health which pushes designers to simply have you duck and cover instead of fighting.

I want to rush in!
I want to be Rambo!
Nope, not in Gears of War you can't. - It takes all the fun away from being a BAD ASS Space Marine.

I have an answer to every one of these: Because opinions differ and not everyone thinks in the same way or likes the same things as you.

BURN THE HERETIC WHO DOTH NOT ENJOY THE CRAFTING OF MINES

Anyway, don't you worry about Planet Express, let me worry about blank.

Now that I have THAT out of the way, I don't understand the massive hardon everyone seems to have for Call of Duty. I recently got Modern Warfare 2 to play online with a buddy (Yeah, it's out of date, but he doesn't have CODBLOPS or BF:BC2.) and it was... eh. I really couldn't get into it. I tried the single player and the multiplayer and... it was basically just like any other shooter. Whoop-de-doo?

Kick-Ass and Scott Pilgrim. I may take flak for this, but come on... I read the comics after the movies came out, but before I watched them, as I thought that viewing the movies from the same angle as everyone else would give me the same EPIC experience they all had. Um. Not really. Kick-Ass was dull, had bad acting, mediocre cinematography and Nicolas Cage in it, and Scott Pilgrim just felt kind of stilted and stale. Acting was understandably boring. Couple of chuckles here and there, but nothing special.

Now onto bands... the big one being Arcade Fire. Don't get me wrong, they produce some decent indie music, but I really don't elevate them above the whole indie rock scene in the slightest. I had their first album when it came out, but didn't really peg them as special, and, indeed, forgot about the and until fairly recently, when they got all popular with the best album and shizz. I just don't see it.

Another band time: Metallica. I'm a metalhead, and I don't give a shit who knows it, but Metallica aren't that special to me. Average drums and drummer, decent riffs, but fairly average presentation, decent vocals, blah lead guitar... a few iconic songs, but certainly nothing to blow my mind. I don't get why so many metalheads worship 'em. :/

I could go on. I ***** too much.

Ha, at first I thought this thread would be about Blank from FFIX.

I have to admit, I hate Halo.
