Why does Microsoft hate us?

A few months ago, I happen to remember that Forza 3 was just on the horizon; and in my excitement I decided to start playing Forza 2 again. Now, I had recently deleted all my music from my 360 to free up some space, and I had an iPod anyway. Long story short I realize that for some idiotic reason, I needed to download some update so that my 360 could play Protected AAC songs from my iPod (which is a good chunk of them). After some frustrating searching (with no help from Microsoft, of course) I found the update and downloaded it. Afterwards, I could play normal AAC songs, but not Protected AAC files. Whatever, close enough.

So now I start up my 360 to play Forza 3, and it says I need to download a system update. Fine, whatever. Surprise! Now the only songs I can play from my iPod are the illegally downloaded ones. Hows that for retarded irony? I tried downloading the update again, but all it said was "to use this content, insert the game it was downloaded for." Jesus Christ.

So do any of you know how to fix this problem, and more importantly, why does Microsoft hate us and not want us to be happy?

Microsoft doesn't hate us and maybe you shouldn't have illegally downloaded music on your ipod.

Microsoft doesn't hate us.
And it isn't that hard to get creative. If your computer is nearby, listen to music on that. If you have speakers, plug them in and play the Ipod on them. There are other more complicated ways of getting easy music access, but, well, I'm to lazy to explain them.

Yea, sounds to me like Microsoft was actually being the good guy.

Wow the only Zune Owner has spoken!

OT:I always found the in-game music player too fussy to deal with!
no I don't own a Zune. Just because you follow the trend of over priced crap does not mean it the best thing out there

Microsoft doesn't hate you, they just want you to buy their products (ie a Zune, mine works perfectly on my 360).

I use a Creative player... I've used Creative products since before the iPod came out and I've never had any problems. Everyone I know that buys iPods get nothing but trouble. Personally I like that I don't need proprietary software and I can move my music around and give it to people whenever I like. An iPod feels like half an mp3 player in comparison.

What's with the Zune bashing in this thread? Zune is just as good (and in my experience, better) as iPod, just without the Apple name behind it.

First example, a Zune. It's even a Microsoft product...

But seriously, OP. Don't blame the company for a software/hardware malfunction. If Microsoft didn't want us to be happy, they wouldn't be making videogames.

In response to what this thread has diverged into:
The only Zune I've ever tried was a pile of crap (one of the first ones, so chances are they have gotten much, much better over time). That having been said, I haven't paid for a single one of the five iPods I've owned. The things are so overproduced, it's easy to find a few broken ones and fix one of 'em (like my frankenstein iPod video, made from 3 iPods). Can't beat free.

As for the OT:
Dude, Microsoft's music and media players have always sucked (after the Windows 98 media player :p). Just use one of the twenty other suggestions posted above for music listening.

You get the trendiest trendtastic trend person award. If you have ever left the USA you would see that most people have other MP3 players than IPODs. Why is that? because everything in the states is about trends unfortunately, dont get me wrong, there are those of us who make up our own minds. But most of the masses here are just like you. They buy whatever is the most hyped, and they repeat lines they hear elsewhere - like what you just said about zune. So what if he is the only one using a zune? does that make it a bad player? it is sad because when I was in high school I would see other kids be individual and own something unpopular - but as soon as the fanboys who love to be on the band wagon tell them they suck because they don't follow mainstream - sadly many of those with originality cave in - and then they are depressed deep inside because they really did not like that ipod, or that xbox - so they end up being even more hateful towards others who don't follow the bandwagon.
