Can't afford it. That by far is the biggest reason. you'll say "well the games are usually more expensive on systems so that kinda a-" fuck no it doesnt! I hardly ever even buy games anymore, there's no way I can sing 700-1200 bucks into a PC just to throw away some more to pay for something to play on it..
So someone else who has missed the point. Try readin the quote again, I can wait. It said nothing about whether m/k or controller is better, only you can pick the one you want on PC. So wanting to play with a controller is not a reason not to consider playing on PC, becuase you can use a controller with PC. I don't quite understand the point about having to type to log into something on a console. That's very rare, and if I do I always have a keypad in for messaging anyway.

5. Start Steam
6. Wait for it to load
7. Click on game library
8. Wait to start up
Edit: It would've been better for me to say in my original post that I do play PC games, just not primarily.
I just want to say one thing to the people that say it's to hard to build a PC on your own... If you cant build one because it's simply "To difficult" I can only really call you either lazy, or dumb... Simply because.
I managed to build my own, starting from the case and asembling all the parts on my own, from the case > motherboard > the fans, in the end everything turned out great and the PC runs Better than the stock ones I'd bought in stores before.
After 6 months now nothing has failed, it runs cooler than any other PC I've had before and so far I havent had a single system crash, one of the fans might have run into an issue so I'll have to open her up and check that when I get home today, but that's still a good build in my book.
So what is my past experience with computers? Second hand experience with switching a graphics card, that's only it. As far as things I did on my own it had been nothing more than opening it up to blow out some dust once every blue moon.
With that little experience I managed to put a perfectly smooth running PC together from scratch, sure it was stressing and took a couple of hours, sure I had not just the manual but an instruction video running while doing it.
What I'm saying is thou, the point that you have to be some kind of tech wizz to build a PC is bulljunkies, it's really just lego with expensive parts.
As far as complexity goes when you are using a PC, complaining about things like install times and things like that is outright stupid, what do you do when you have a 10 minute instal or waiting for a 1 hour download? You tab down and do something else, something you cant do on consoles.

Ironic you tell me to read when you obviously haven't done it yourself. "I want to use a controller" is a very legitimate reason because PC games are not made with a controller as the main control device. There is no guarantee your controls will work the way you want them to.ph0b0s123 said:

I'm gonna take a wild guess here and say how most people don't have and can't afford (or think they can't afford) a gaming PC.

The problem is the stated reason. If it was ' I game on consoles becuase it has the best controller support', I would agree completely. Saying I don't want to game on PC becuase I like controllers infers using controllers is not possible on PC.

For some, the Console is fine, they don't need higher frame rates, better graphics, higher resolutions, support for new technologies and all the other benefits the PC format brings.
Instead the cheap and easy console format is more suited to them.
The consoles are the Ipod, the PC the Hi-fi.

It depends on the type of game I'm playing. For strategy games and rpgs where I must control multiple characters like Baldur's Gate I prefer playing on PC, but for all other games, console is best for me.
I also prefer the stability of consoles for matters of game compatibility and hardware requirements. When I buy a console game, I know I'll be able to play it at its best quality and performance. Not so much with a PC game. It's not really the cost of upgrading that bugs me, just the hassle.
Finally, now that all consoles have their own online player base, I can play FPS in my couch with a controller without fear of getting pwned by mouse/keyboard players or people playing with shitty graphics just to get the best framerate. Okay... I get pwned anyway but at least it's not because of the hardware.

I've only played RTS games on a PC but the idea intrigues me. Mobility would be a huge plus and mouse/keyboard controls are something I could easily get used to. Too bad my laptop died. XBox, PS1, and NES for now...

Mainly because my desktop is absolutely crap for running modern AAA titles. I tend to play more indie or older games on it. Also, I can't afford a decent gaming PC (my desktop seems to have something against saving my stats on TF2 which actually tends to put me off playing it somewhat) and my current PC is fine for all purposes bar gaming.

The main reason is because my laptop and desktop are unable to keep up with the releases and quickly become obsolete. My second reason is because many great games such as Alan Wake, L.A. Noire, etc are avalible onlu on consoles until much later. My third reason is because very few of my friends play PC games; I would rather play with my friends then play by myself. Another reason that is subjective is because I feel most games play better with a controller (and yes, I know you can plug the controller into the PC but I don't know how and even if I did I wouldn't) while sitting on a couch. My wrists get cramps from playing TF2 after an hour (but that game is worth it XD) on a keyboard and I cannot fathom how I would complete a lengthy game such as Skyrim without my hands in tatters. Most of the games I play are FPSs, action-adventure, and Western RPGs as well and I find I play better on consoles due to experience.

You can have a $2000 desktop or laptop and play anything at the highest resolution and you can do certain things to enhance your gaming experience that you cannot acquire on most console games. Console gamers aren't looking for that. And that's fine, as I said, it's like comparing a guy who spends £100 on an Ipod to a guy who spends £1,000 on a Hi-fi, they can both do the same thing, just at a different level.
Added to that, PCs do not have to be expensive.
Infact, if you add in the cheaper cost of games, chances are, it'd work out cheaper in the long run.
Of course, if you're looking to get the latest stuff and stay on the bleeding edge then it will be more expensive.
