Why Halo is called innovative?

This was the one intelligent coherent point and I'd like to build on it. What Halo did was take genre staples and conventions and perfect them, then streamline them. What resulted was a simple, fast-paced smooth-flowing FPS with kickass multipayer marketed for consoles. Things like shield health and other minor tweaks don't make a game innovative. New and intuitive gameplay makes a game innovative.muffincakes said:

Im sorry, I've never (GASP!) owned an XBOX. I was to busy playing sports and gaining friends to game. I bought a 360 last year and have been catching up on my game history in my spare time. Interesting stuff. But I only game in my spare time so I don't have much time to actually play the older stuff. Having a life can do that to a person.Steelfists said:

And don't the little Flood seem very similar to Head Crabs in Half Life. Made 3 years before Halo.

Halo 1 was innovative(at the time)...now calling halo innovative is like calling pinneapples helmets...while one could argue the point one would look like a reaching jackass with an odd obsession for fruit...
