Well, instead of jumping on the critic rant sheet the day it came out I decided to really put effort into gameplay and experience as much as I could and then comment on my likes and dislikes.
After all the hype, I think I'd give the game a B/B- and here's why:
1) NPC dialogue get's very tiresome and repetitive after a while.
2) Don't like the fact NPC's in town follow and nag you. They also seem to have faulty collission detection and block your way a lot of the time especially within buildings.
3) While I like the idea of having teh decoration/furniture mechanic introduced in the game...I'm not sure it was implemented correctly, but I do realize this isn't nor should it be the focus of my gripes or the game itself.
4) Invisble walls and 'pathing' boundries are irksome to me. I don't understand a game that says you can do anything has even the most simplist of limitations when it comes to the environment. I can 'vault' some areas, where I can't 'vault' others. In some areas I can walk all around, and yet others it seems a knee high shrub dictates that I cannot walk off a path. There are numerous instances I cannot fathom why I can break down this door, but not that door? Why can I swim here and not there? Why can I walk on this beach, but not that beach?
5) Gargoyles...Neat concept, neat sense of completetion for achievement, horrible implemenation and also repetitive dialogue. Why are there a gargoyles iniside locked homes above staircases and stores?
6) Frustrating co-op camera controls. Maybe I am an r-tard, but having to hit LB to reset camera every few seconds because of friends movement to reset viewpoint can be frustrating.
7) Disapearing or buggy NPC's.
8) Again, it may be just me....but it always seems like it's night time 60% of the time, and light 40%.
9) Character customization (clothing options, colors, hair styles, tattoos) seems limited to me.
10) Getting fat so easily seems wonky, especially if I walk/run/fight everywhere.
11) Why are there no horses in Albion to ride, but apparantly self powered carts?
Now I enjoy the game, I really do despite my list above, but I don't think it's everything Peter M made it out to be. I suppose I was expecting more and I'm surprised at the amount of atcual limits within the world.
