Why I Hate "Happy Tree Friends"

Happy tree Friend's is literally the most repulsive thing I have ever seen. To me, it is worse than Hostel or Saw could ever be, simply because the violence depicted in the cartoon is not limited by a budget, only by the imaginations of the sick bastards who make it.
Happy Tree Friends is in the same bucket as formerly mentioned Saw and Hostel. These types of "entertainment" rely on copious amounts of gore to shock you, and personally I can't stomach it. I don't really enjoy horror, mostly because the thought of "horror" always comes back to movies like Saw that litter the genre.
Happy Tree Friends freaked me out. The video I saw was completely innocent up until the point someone got there head pulled through the drain of a kitchen sink.

I could understand this, to a certain extent, that if such gratuitous violence was used to make a point, or to be ironic, or SOME kind of symbolism, but there is none. People think it's FUNNY. FUNNY!?

I know that this argument isn't the best, but I don't care. I HATE HAPPY TREE FRIENDS.

Argue with me if you want, or agree with me. I don't care, i'm bored.

That is some traumatizing shit... When I was a little kid my brother showed me one of those and a moose choked on a peanut and a bus fell off a cliff... I barely ate for weeks and cried that day.

I hate my brother.

I don't like it, and I'll be honest, as a gore-hound, there was a couple of stuff in it that I found kinda disturbing (The slicing of an eyeball was actually rather graphic) but I don't hate it just for that reason alone. I also hate it simply because it just isn't all that funny either. I see the appeal to it, but it's not my taste, and I'm actually kind of a demented guy...now excuse me while I go wash the gimp.

Well, I always saw Hapy Tree Friends as a parody of cartoon violence shown in cartoons like Tom and Jerry. When you think about it, its just a real life version of Itchy and Scratchy. Besides, it was Mel Brooks who said "When someone gets a paper cut, thats a tragedy. When someone falls down a manhole and dies, thats comedy"

I ask you, do you watch "Funniest Videos"? Have you ever found yourself laughing at an incident you know you shouldn't be? Are you disgusted by the fact people do? Its the same principle.

Also, there is WAY more to Horror than gratuitious torture and gore but they are VERY effective. Perhaps you might enjoy Vincent Price in any of the Dr. Phibes films. They are a early predessor of the sb genre but its actually done rather well.
Food for thought.

i dont think its that bad, everything is very cartoonish and done with some humour, i honestly think that a simple wound on the cheek in a more realistic movie is more violent than what they do, i will say that i find it boring, yeah it was fun when i was a young lad and loading a 30 sec clip took an entire afternoon.

now i get my fill of cartoon gore with metalopaclypse.

O.K at the time of posting everyone has said they don't see the humor in it.

That's O.K, I personally like it. It's funny to see normally peaceful, happy innocent creatures be horribly dismembered.

Well in anycase different people like different things, if you don't like it, fine don't watch it. But some people find it HILARIOUS. (Like me)

Meh. Never cared for the show. Years of being on the internet have kinda desensitized me to shock so it did not bother me, I just thought it was tasteless.

wow, i completely disagree, your brother is great, he wanted to share his interest with you and be the big brother he always wished he had, he may have handled it a bit wrong, but from the information you supplied he seems to have the same brothering methods that i have, but instead of hate i am above god in my brothers eyes, maybe its because i showed him awesome 80s action movies instead of happy tree friends.

Metalocalypse isn't that violent, and Metalocalypse is hilarious. Metalocalypse's violence always seems surreal, like your just looking at the cover art for a death metal album, so I forgive it, but Metalocalypse is ACTUALLY FUNNY, and it tells jokes. Happy Tree Friends just confuses horrible violence with comedy.

Refuge in Audacity [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/RefugeInAudacity] and Crossing the Line Twice [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/CrossesTheLineTwice] is the bread and butter of Happy Tree Friends. I know that its not for everyone (hell its not for most people), but some of us find it funny. Usually not the gore and ultra-violence that everyone else gets caught up on, but the sheer absurdity of the whole thing. The characters look like they could be out of a children's show but have sort of things happen to them that are horrific in the extreme. You don't enjoy the action in it, you enjoy the idea of the whole thing.

Shock value? ... there's a shock value!?! meh! never noticed.

I find it hilarious, just with all the crazy and fucked up ways they can think of killing little critters lol

Nah, the tone in his voice gave the impression of
"Oh man this will so freak him out! har har"
It be perfectly understandable if he thought it was awesome and wanted everyone to enjoy it for that fact.

i think the reason most people dislike it is because the characters just lack personalty, if you dont know who they are or anything about them much of the humour is lost and you are completely aware that you are just watching drawings, tom and jerry did a great job of portraying its characters through actions, music and very limited dialogue (i think tom may haved had one or two lines besides YAHAHAUUAWWWW).

btw. i am really impressed that it still exists, i thought it was dying out years ago.

I enjoy it. That is all.

What? Don't look at me like that it isn't like I'm going to be doing anything evil... or will I?
