I'm using Firefox with no problems. Are you guys using Vista?
Not every problem is caused by Vista you know -.-.(currently running Vista and Firefox without incedent)

Anyway, it may have been a changed setting that you didn't notice, I would try maybe uninstalling and reinstalling it.

Yeah firefox is messing for me too. Slow loading and crashes, so I've switched to chrome for the time being.

I know. I was only asking because I knew Vista caused problems sometimes, and I'm running it on XP without problems.

Scan for viruses and malware. I recommend you try out MalwareBytes Anti-Malware, ThreatFire, and AVG Free 8.5 (if you don't have it). If the scans turn up anything, delete it.

What version of Firefox are you using? Are you on one of the betas / developer previews? Mozilla have a backlog of older versions of Firefox, such as 3.0 - you might just have to download an older one again. Have you been messing around in the Firefox settings, or about:config? That can mess your browser up pretty well. You can revert to default settings by uninstalling and reinstalling though.

Firefox sucks! It hasn't been the model of an ideal browser for YEARS, and people continued using it out of abject hatred for microsoft!

Chrome is the best browser i've yet used. Try it!
really chrome is better? they mostly steal all the settings from ie, they also steal all the features of firefox.

chrome is just a clown suit for ie and behaves in the exact same ways as ie does, even gives the exact same errors when encountering certain things

as for the original topic, it seems like a setting in firefox you did something with
I do think chrome is better. As for "stealing settings and features," if I recall tabbed browsing was stolen from Opera. Just sayin'.

Every time I load up firefox, it takes far to long to get to a browsable state. I don't use it every single day, so it seems to update every time I load it. Couple that with the sluggishness of Vista, and you are in for trouble. I also crash firefox a lot-- too many tabs and it goes boom.

IE tends to crash when I really stress it out, losing all open windows as well. The best feature of IE is that it is part of the windows operating system.

Chrome is my favorite since it is so blindingly fast-- you aren't waiting for the operating system or the software to do a bunch of stuff in the background. And the combined search\browser bar is really fantastic.

and chrome has stolen everything from every other browser.

btw konqueror had tabs before opera did

i'm going to say that the problem lies with your computer and not firefox, i've never had it crap out cause of tabs or having too many of them. i have had issues with it but the computer i was using was also having a lot of issues at the time, so it's the computer not the program itself

I once had Firefox crash out from overloaded tabs.

It took 20 copies of the Escapist, 10 Youtubes, and 30 "text" websites in one window.

Something's wrong with the settings, not FF.

We don't want your stupid useless comments here, go away. Firefox 3.5 is the fastest browser for something so robust and strong. It loads quickly even on my slow crappy laptop.

All I can really suggest is what everyone else has said. What version of Firefox are you using?

I tried Chrome not too long ago and really liked it. Its UI was nice and gave me abit more space for the web pages (which is what I use the net for mostly) by taking out the bottom bar unless needed (something I really liked).

However, It has no addons, and my Firefox is dripping in little additions that make my websurfing ten times more swift, easier and generally with less effort to do anything. Therefore I love it and had to go back as the only thing Chrome has over it is that its prettier.

When Chrome gets addon support and lots of scripts going for it, it has potential.

I would suggest closing Firefox, Ending the process on task manager (if its still going; 'Firefox.exe'), and opening it up again - they sadly haven't fixed the memory leak problem yet.

One thing i've noticed about firefox4life people:
they respond to any critisism of their chosen browser with quite a bit of vitriol and spite.

Its a browser, its clunky, its slow, and its behind the times.

No, I meant that you're just not helping his problem. That's all. I like Chrome, it's lightweight, I just don't like using it (and have you read the EULA?)

*Sigh* It's the new feature of tear-away tabs. Read the FireFox updates next time. But don't worry, it's not just you. I hate it too, as it randomly does that without any reason.

I has also useing Firefox like 5 months ago, but I turned to Google Chrome because I had it installed on my PC, Firefox wasn`t opening at all after a few hours of turning on my PC and it was faster.

It took some time to tweek and get used to it, but now I love it and I think i won`t change it very soon.

the other thing i just thought of is one of your keys is stuck, so when you click a link it triggers the new window

might want to clean out your keyboard, tho the easy way is just running your hand along the keys so they unstick
