Why is Zelda BOTW Considered so amazing.

it's not pefect, not by far. but i think it deserve a solid 8. major complains i've seen on internet so far is voice acting and framerates drop. which is interresting, because my game is in French, and the voice acting job is pretty decent. all the actors they took seems to have a solid 10 years experience doing dubbings in vdeo games and movies (one is the french voice of Hiccup in Dragons, also felix fix jr in wreck it ralf, and Kristoff in frozen. another is the official french voice of Ron perlman...)

and for the framerates, honestly, i'm playing on the WiiU, and i did noticed a few, but it's not a bit thing. there's not much frame rates drops in the game. i suspect that the framerates drops on the Switch are not due to hardware limitation.

And I'm sorry, but the characters are awful. I haven't finished it yet, so maybe I'll come across someone that'll shift the balance, but so far I am dreading the next story-centric character encounter. I've already come across the demure anime waifu, and the boasting, competitive rival (but actually caring best friend). And Link is just a personality vacuum. Whenever I look at his face I feel my sense of self draining. Some of the NPCs are okay, but no one memorable.

hmmm... maybe you shouldn't play Zelda games, these are Japanese games hence why there are so many anime influences just like every other Zelda game before it. There are anime tropes and general jrpg tropes in every game that's been introduced so far, and before you ask about the rival/best friend look up Ralph.

Your complaints are about things that Japanese studios usually put into their games all the time, it's what us Japanese games player enjoy. You may scuff and feel cringe when you see these characterizations but as an anime fan I actually feel joy when I run into those things.

I mean it's a good game but why are so many rabid fans hailing it as the second coming? It kind of looks like a late ps2 early ps3 game . Don't get me wrong it's bloody good but certainly not better than other aaa third person games out there.

Does it really? It's been a while since I've played any PS2 or PS3 games, and my memory kind of sucks, but from what I've seen of Zelda BotW, the graphics are pretty good. At the very least, the art style looks good.

I'm sorry, but I'm not buying that. Wind Waker had none of these, and the worst thing Twilight Princess had was Colin. And I can't remember Silent Hill, Resident Evil, or even Metal Gear Solid adhering to these types of blatant, straight-faced anime tropes. Oh, and notch one more for the loli girl who's totally older than 18 cuz reasons.

And the crazy thing is, these tropes only seem present with plot related characters. Random NPCs are your regular charming Zelda folk with charismatic dialoge.

Ehhh, the only 3D games on the SNES I can think of look like Star Fox, which isn't even close to Minecraft. I think Minecraft is N64 level graphics at least, maaaaaaybe Jaguar CD.

Er, because Nintendo's level designers were asked to take on the sandbox genre which is just asking for a title that will ruin people for all other sandbox titles. More to it than that (obviously), but I'm not sorry that Nintendo is looking at GOTY material when we're barely three months into the year

It's quickly becoming one of my favorite Zelda games. I've heard people talk about how BOTW is Nintendo making Zelda open-world, but I'm pretty sure the original NES Zelda already did that 30 years ago.

I actually really like the characters. To the point that this reincarnation of Zelda herself may be my favorite. As Yahtzee said in his review, she's an insecure nerd that constantly doubts herself and feels she in way over her head. (...Not that I know anyone that. Nope, not me.)

I do have some complaints. First off, the inability to climb at all when it rains. It makes sense, but when the rain is random and I'm trying to get somewhere, I end up just setting the game down for a few minutes and just do something else until it passes. I wish they made it so that the climbing gear set granted you a set bonus that allows you to climb in the rain, at least.

I know a lot of people have complained about the voice acting. Maybe I just have a high tolerance for that kind of thing, but I thought it was...ok. Not great, but serviceable. For the first Zelda game with voices, I expected worse.

Finally, everyone talks about the weapon durability and how awful it is. At first I thought it was bad, yes, but as I played the game and got better weapons, it didn't really become a problem for me. That said, it's almost become the opposite problem for me: I keep finding new weapons, and I constantly get told that my inventory is full. I'm sure this would be less of an issue if I found more Korok seeds to upgrade my weapon slot capability.

All the other nitpicks I have, like sidequest exhaustion and finding all the collectibles, can pretty much be attributed to the fact that it is an open-world game. Heck, I still love the original NES Zelda games, and I got stuck on those all the time when I was a kid.

Overall, it's a solid 9/10 for me.

I don't get either side of this conversation. Yes, a full price game is expected to look better than a cheap game. On the other hand, BotW looks great, so what's the problem?

I didn't say every and all games, I just said is something that's seen a lot by Japanese developers. Even in the list you put all of those games have silly anime tropes in them, hell Dark Souls is literally based on Berserk,

Aren't we all expressing opinions, if you don't agree with me or don't like anime and consider it insulting for it to be in your favorite games then just discuss it instead of looking for the one game that doesn't have any anime influences.

"Looking for the one game"? I posted 17 off the top of my head. Could post 17 more too.
The point is Zelda, or for that matter any Japanese game, doesn't have to be influenced by anime. That would be like expecting every Western game to look like a Nickelodeon cartoon. Now that I say that it occurs to me Splatoon does that. And that's Japanese.

I agree with pretty much every part of this, save for the end. I don't think it's quite 9/10, but a solid 8/10 for me. A great game, memorable, but not perfect.

Better than Skyward Sword was if I'm being honest.
