Well I'm sure that most people have said this. My game of Lego Star Wars: The Original Trilogy isn't working. It goes to the language screen, I pick English and thats it, just "loads and loads."

So have you had this problem? Any ways to fix this problem? I've tried toothpaste and Brasso and no effect at all. Any help is appriceated.

P.S I'm playing the PS2 version of it, since my brother plays the Xbox and it's the alternative.

Are you sure it isn't just slow loading?
I don't think so, it's been "loading" for a good half hour now.

toothpaste and Brasso? What is that? I hope its not what i think it is.
Well you know what toothpaste is?

Brasso is metal polish.

Ok, so you rubbed toothpaste and metal polish onto the back of your disc?

Have you experienced this more than once? If so it might just be a lemon.
Only with this game. So you could be right.
Well i'm quite certain you can exchange it for a working copy if you still have the purchase receipt.

No I don't, it was bought a good few years ago. Might just re-buy it.

Insane question:
I'm assuming you're actually playing it on the PS2 here; is the PS2 vertical or horizontal? And have you tried both?

Yes, that is a dumb question. But I have a 1st wave PS2 that plays DVDs vertical and CDs horizontal. Witchcraft.

Why? It seems to me that this would be more likely to destroy the disk than fix it.

First of all, The Escapist isn't sending me notifications that you are quoting me, weird.

Second, why the hell would you rub toothpaste on the back of a disc? Is it some kind of household remedy myth i don't know about? I would think the grit in most toothpastes would ruin the plastic sheen on the back of a disc, same with metal polish, the back of the disc is a thin plastic sheen not metal. Polishing works by sanding the surface of something flat. I would think that would destroy the disc.... maybe i'm missing something.

Apprently it "fills" scrathes in the disks.

No my disk is not been mauled by fingernails.

Tried your method of putting it vertical. It didn't work sorry.

Thats what i would think. If i saw someone rubbing toothpaste into the back of their disc, my eyes would expand to the size of dinner plates, i'd probably Spy stab them in the back to get them to stop.

That sonds like it will be as likely to fix it as heating it in the microwave.
You probably just ruined your disc. A DVD has millions of little pitas on the bottom of the disc, and metal polish is used to smooth an area. Not a good combination.

Uhm... well, again, it more than likely destroyed your disc. I believe their is a guide to cleaning discs in every PS2 game manual, and it says NOT to use abrasive cleaners.

I had this with TFU on the 360. It resolved after a few goes though so, I don't know. Check the disc for scratches obviously.

Yes, sandpaper is not a good cleaning cloth for discs.

And, just a side note, i put an old Ps 1 disc in the microwave. Awesome spectacle, but apparently it still works....

It's made no difference to the performance, but I not risking it again.
