People still don't like gamers because the media still treats it as a waste of time versus a stream of entertainment. The lifestyle of a gamer is simply a lazy one and therefore that's how others see it. Reading a book is move thought provoking but less interactive, and being a movie junkie is less interact and similarly active but some would say at least you're getting out of the house. Being a gamer is only cool to other gamers because they know how it feels to play and enjoy video games. What we as gamers should promote more is the aspect of community within games and how it is a very big social gathering activity even though there is little gathering, unless you're playing the Wii for the most part. That's right games bring people together, even if it is just to teabag some noobs.
