Why PC gaming is better.

Well, to be honest, both console and PC have advantages. But I'm going to argue for PC gaming.

FPS. This is always better on the PC, control-wise. No matter how great you are with a controller, you will always be owned when your opponet is using a mouse. Also, remember that some console FPS have auto-aiming and aiming assist.

RTS. Better controls. Also PC games tend to have more patience. Forget Halo Wars, because you can't save during a mission. Save-Anywhere is a MUST for RTS games.

As for the rest, controls work as good as the other. Platform games and Fighting games are easier with a controler though, or gamepad.

Okay now for a bit of explanation. I grew up with Wolfenstein 3d, Doom, and Super Mario. I will always enjoy games on PC and Consoles.

In PC gaming, all games are retroactive. Backwards compatibility. For Everything. Thanks to DOSbox.

Expense. Consoles are cheaper, blah blah blah. Only to a point. I paid 1800 total for my PC in november 2007, and I use it for everything. 400 for 25" monitor, 200 for speakers and soudn card. 1200 for tower. Including 465 dollars for my Video card. Don't comment on that, because the video card was worth EVERY fucking penny.
Okay, Consoles are far cheaper, but that's because you don't use it for everything.

I use it for hours everyday. Also to Watch movies and TV. Use it for work.



We need less cross-platform games. Before, PC and Consoles both had their games, good and bad. But it seemed the best on both really stood out. Now the best that are cross-platform, like Bioshock, are lacking.

I'd rather have a game built for PC, another built for Console, have them cater to both like solid gold. You know, back before 2000. Instead, now of we get one that gives us Silver. We like silver, and we aren't going to say no to silver, but it could have been better.

It seems like in trying to please everybody, more games are falling short.


PC gaming is better as a whole, but I will always love consoles.

Also, tell me if you understand this. Bioshock is a casual game disguised as a hardcore game.
Must be why I found it so boring.

EDIT: Sorry, this reads more like a rant. Please argue why the points I made are not valid. Or come up with some of your own. Or Argue that Consoles are better.

This is The Escapist, for chrissake. We all know about PC gaming, there really isn't any need to voice this opinion unless it's in the form of a review, but this isn't a review.

I agree with most of what you pointed out.

PC games have a lot of replay value because of many games having a very active modding community.

The only reason I don't have a lot of games for PC now is that my Gaming rig got outdated and I haven't upgraded it.

I think its a known fact that PC gaming is generally better than console gaming. But one thing that bugs me is that most of the big games coming out for PC now are being made to be ported.

I use my console to watch DVDs, so I don't see the point of using a PC for that.

FPSs, well I always had more trouble with mouse aiming than controllers aiming. I know it could just be me, but I think it's more to do with the way the control system in game is. If it's fluid and you use it enough, a console gamer could be just as good as a PC gamer (In my opinion anyway)

RTSs No argument, and RTS only works on PC, but since its the only type of game I play that works best on PC, I personally find consoles much 'better'.

PC gaming is not 'better' console gaming is not 'better.' One suits one set of needs, one suits the other. I will concede though, that for some unknown reason PC games tend to have more plot based content put into them, but it doesn't seem to be due to any hardware limitation, so if console developers had the same depth of storylines, there would be little distinguishable between them.

Know what would be awesome? If I could buy, say NHL 2010 for pc, and my buddy can buy it for ps3 or whatever, and we can play each other. That would be great for any game. FPS's would be hard to do due to the aiming superiority of a mouse and the cheapness of autoaim, but would be neat.

Before commenting, I am fully aware that it was tried in the past, but did not work too well. Can't remember right now for which game it was done.

Also your amazing points of "Because it's better" don't really stand.

Auto-aim is terrible, especially the way I've seen it implemented, especially in PC games (section 8 for example).

You could talk about the sensitivity of a mouse-keyboard setup, or use actual factual data about how it's been proven more efficient to accomplish the same thing with a certain DPI mouse rather than a console 'joystick' (that's what they call those little thumb-knobs, right? bitches should see a REAL joystick...)

Or you could talk about how with the extra keys, we have more interesting games, how the permanent data is better for mods and such, but I guess not anymore since consoles have harddrives now, but whatever...

Anyway, my rant is about how your rant lacks cohesion, which is why I cannot support it.

Sorry, sir. Anyway, there's one thing consoles will have that we never will, and that's a Steel Battalion controller.

Thanks for enlightening us with your wise words. But you failed to realize that this is all subject to opinion and budget. Some people like sitting back and enjoying a game with a controller, and sometimes people just don't have a thousand or more dollars to enjoy high quality graphics.

I play on both PC and console, it's just a matter of what you're playing and if you care to play with friends at home.

I was stating some advantages that consoles had over PC's. At the end, I made the comment that console games are just plain fun, and PC games are more immersive and intelligent.

I wasn't trying to state that one is better in any way. The fact that it created a flame war was an accident. So I created this thread to state my opinion, and to get yours. I want to know if my points are valid, or if I am wrong.

I agree that WASD+Mouse is most natural for FPS's, so PC elitists are justified in that sense.

Oh here we go... I don't consider either medium for playing games better. However, I'M a PC gamer. If I had to argue I'd say keyboard and mouse controls better for most kinds of games. However, for games like GTA, and any racing games, I'd prefer console.

I like PC gaming because there's actual room to fit all the controls in, while console games occasionally have to leave things out. The servers are also better, and there's mods.

However, I like console gaming better because it's less likely to crash, and the graphics don't rely on your graphics card. That, and there are no hackers. Well, less hackers.

PC is better for the graphics and for FPS but I personally don't give a damn about graphics. Consoles are altogether easier to use, you don't have to worry about getting a virus. Not that anyone would do this but can you lay upside down and play on a PC? If you can plz post a vid coz thats a talent.
PC is good for the graphics and controls. Consoles are good for the comfort and the ease.
