Recently, posters of Barack Obama in Heath Ledger-type Joker make-up have been spotted in Los Angeles. Below this picture is the word "Socialism."

What do you think of this particular occurrence? I'm no fan of Obama, but I don't think he and the Joker are necessarily on the same level. I get the point, but isn't this just a tad much? I have to agree with the writer of the article that there are much better people to use for such a poster in the stead of the Joker.

i totally agree with you that this is completely stupid. however i would point out that Obama is the most 'socialistic' president we have ever had. he's not a socialist by any stretch of the imagination but he is the most left wing liberal prez by FAR. and that frightens a lot of conservatives.

Not anymore, apparently. The Obama administration commented on that and stated that it would reword its agreement terms. Though it isn't exaclty certain whether or not they're stopping its effects, retroactively or otherwise.

Could someone explain to me why the natural reaction from conservatives is fear and paranoia? I just really can not comprehend that. Instead of objective thinking or even bothering to actually look at the issue they just fear for their safety. Are we still afraid of rolling out the carpet for the reds? Its so illogical to me.

Well i can appreciate your ignorance to a lot of complicated issues, i work in finance and i barely understand some of it. My point was, read up on these things from more than one source and figure it out. The car thing is stimulating, quite well if i may add, our sagging car industry by encouraging people to buy. I certainly dont have the patience to explain it all to you here.

I will listen to what you have to say. Im not so sure it will change my opinion/view on the current and past administrations.

I find it very interesting that the right-wing refuses to change their slogans and methods. I guess they really do believe that, if at first you don't suceed, try until you cause the apocalypse, so that the opposition doesn't have anything to suceed at.

I also find it interesting that the right-wing is so extremely against taxes, what, would they rather pay for the construction of roads themselves? Or would they rather pave the roads by themselves.

Also, to top it off, socialism = pandora's box, according to them (and communism = 12 pandora's nesting boxes, or something.) Which I would argue is false, and that isn't just because I am biased, or anything, capitalism isn't evil either, nor was feudalism.

In any case, I don't think the republicans or libertarians are going to have a majority, or president, in a long time, mostly because they are trying to appeal to an "under 30 crowd" which they are pretty much failing at. Well, we'll see what happens, I probably shouldn't speak too soon...

Normally I would try to mediate the two crowds that are posting, but I am just too biased, and I don't think I can do it comrade. The best I will do is say that we shouldn't argue, as it is just a waste of time, and we won't really sway anyones opinion.

Edit: Oh, and I agree with fluffybacon, people suck, to put it bluntly, people are biased, and subjective, everyone, including me.

Someone who isn't 15 years old and pay plenty of taxes (me) knows Obama shouldn't be spending so much non-existant money. Did you hear that the last time the "Cars for Clunkers" thing happened, the money allotted for the project ran up in 4 days rather than 4 months it was supposed to last?

Well aside form the mismanagement of money, which is not handed out by hand to dealerships by obama. It has been reported that the majority of dealers have really enjoyed and profited from this plan. The only thing slowling it down now is the confusion on the senate for more money. Say what you want about the plan, the people and industry that it was made to help are all for it, its hard to argue against that.

What about the reconstituted vehicles being placed back on the road that are actaully supposed to be going to the junkyard?

As I said, I'm biased. Personally, I don't think they are all bad people, just the crazy ones and the overzealous ones. You can believe, for instance, that Obama isn't a good president, you can believe that his policies are going to run America to the ground, that doesn't make you a bad person. If you believe that Obama is a socialist, without explaining why, if you just constantly oppose something without bothering to consider the other side's opinion, if you just say "I HOPE he runs the country to the ground", than you are a bad person, in my opinion.

Obviously, this works the same for left-wing people as well. If you say we should have an armed revolution and form a socialist government comrade, than you are a bad person. If you say things such as "I hope Rush Limbaugh's kidneys fail..." you are a bad person. If you never bother to even consider the conservative side of things, or even that they are human, as is the case with me, than you are a bad person.

Edit: Also, for future reference, I do not feel that the conservatives are always wrong, and while I disagree with many of their stances on things, there are also many things that they stand for, that I feel are sound, and reasonable.

Edit: Also, I just wish to remind you, that the libertarians are conservative, which is why I prefer the more inclusive terms "right-wing" and "conservative" as opposed to just saying "republican." Over all, it is mainly the libertarians that I dislike (as well as the republican media, and some of the republican politicians, which is mainly because, while they claim to be republicans, are really more of libertarians.)
