Why the internet hatred for furry?

Now, I am not a Furry nor do I intend to be, but I have always wandered why there is an almost blanket hatred towards the furries even if the do not condone the 'Yiff' culture.

So, dearest internet clever people and people who are sensible with their posts and don't go for flame wars (I love you Escapist, I hope you know this), why do you reckon people have a general hate for the fur Friends?

Because they ruin everything good on the internet.

Also, they're super annoying.

Remember when you were a kid and watched Loony Tunes?

Remember when Bugs Bunny would dress as a lady bunny and you would laugh?

"Oh, you silly Elmer Fudd, that's Bugs in disguise!", you would shout, a gleeful smile on your face.

Now imagine all the childhood innocence removed from that scene.

...

Yeah.

But how? Ive never met one who is deliberately annoying, they seem to very silly and always up for a laugh.

"Furry Fury"? OP, Y U No alliterate?

Anyway, I dunno whether I'm just not up to speed with the internet or whatever, but I don't go looking for 'Furries' on any forums, and I've never really seen any around here. There probably are some, but good on em for keeping it to themselves.

furry porn is awesome >:D

Well, I guess people just don't like things strange or alien to them, we get over a lot of those types of feelings, but this one just seems to stick.

i don't know them and i don't care about them...antropomorphic creatures (sorry my english is bad) are everywhere in kids cartoons, so i think a fetish like that is no a surprise but why would someone hate them?

unless they become anoying about it like all thoes people with the ponnys everywhere

While I think the sentiment of whoever wrote this post (the one in the link, not the person on the Escapist) is a bit mean-spirited, I do believe this person is the closest to hitting the nail on the head. And this is coming from a card-carrying Furry

I remember reading something about a CSI episode where a murder takes place at a furry convention. Every furry had big creepy fur suits on such, leading to the popular idea that furry means a person who has sex in fur suits rather than someone who finds Renamon attractive.

Not sure if it realy relates to internet hate but am quite sure that it really damaged the community.

See, I do know people who don't take it as a fetish but take it as a bit of fun! I always thought there was a crowbar separation between Yiffing and furry. Am I wrong?

/Thread.

Yes, exactly that. I have no idea what compels furries to define themselves by their fetish.

I've had furries as friends, and it's been... mixed.
Some are nice people, and others will look at Sonic porn in front of you like its perfectly normal.
Oh, and dont get me started on those ones who rag on `humans` as if they aren't because they are special!!11oneone

We're fine with how your brain/body works, but we don't want to hear about it every second. In fact, we don't care at all.

because they have decided to identify themselves based purely on their fetish. which as far as i am concerned should be kept to yourself and if you insist on shoving you weird sexual quirks down peoples throats (so felt dirty writing that bit) then expect to have the piss taken out of you. seriously i dont identify myself by my sexual quirks (thanks god)

I just find anyone being that open about their sexuality to relative strangers a bit weird. Call me old fashioned or blinkered, but I just think it's someone people should keep to themselves. That 4chan image is a good way of summing it up.
I think this may be the main thing. I am perfectly happy with what I am and my kinks but I wouldn't be happy having them out in the public. But with this you get the annoyance that the majority of furries do keep it to themselves, and only the minorities go out and go down to the shops dressed as a wolf. It's a shame that the minority ruin it for the majority.
