Yes the all empowering (according to The Merovingian from the Matrix) Why! Cause and effect! I wanted to ask questions during the Unskippable Let's Play of Legaia 2, so I made my account. Now I'm addicted! Quizzes, articles, the forums, games, badges! I'm loving it all. Even though I had been a long time viewer of Zero P, Unskippable, Game Dogs, and Movie Bob. It was that one thing that finally made me give in and succumb fully to The Escapist.

So tell me your stories! What made you finally give in and make a full escapist account? What are you addicted to here the most? Old and new alike (if you oldies can even remember anymore :p)

(And yes, I searched, a few threads about how long it took people to join, but I couldn't find anything specific about the "why" so I hope this thread is cool!)

Idk, didin't really need a lot of motivation to make an escapist account, its free and has no obligations, plus I needed an account to post comments.

I don't believe I've seen this kind of thread in a while, so you're all in the green, boyo.

As for me, I joined because... I don't know. I just join most sites that seem interesting, and as I found this site through my older sister recommending Zero Punctuation, I thought it seemed interesting and joined.

Now I'm staying because I've made a bunch of friends and feel comfortable here.

I posted something extreemly similar to this about 5 minutes ago. It was the quizzes that lured me in - the videos ensnared me into the trap and the community went in for the kill.
Basterds.

I was watching Unskippable, when a thread title caught my attention. There, I found a post so full of scientific fail that I just felt I had to step in and fix all the horrible basic physics mistakes I saw.

Since then, I've been commenting, RPing and watching various content for over a year. And I'm not planning to leave soon, as the substantial lack of trolls in comparison to many other sites is just so damn attractive bonus to all this greatness.

I lurked for a few months in aught-nine before a video popped up before ZP telling me to vote for the Escapist at the Webbys. I did. When the Escapist won I celebrated but I noticed that every member got a badge. I joined so that I too could get the badge but I did not. I've been a regular here since.

I was promised a Fallout 3 thread!

I found it then stayed for...well, the fun. And the fact that if I went, PRIATE would become a cess-pool. XD

Someone made a thread about the unreleased Left4Dead 2 and I had to post in it.

I then stuck about posting until I hit 1300 and discovered user groups in late December. Then my post count shot up and I became one of the few Admins of the social group P.R.I.A.T.E.

Since then my "fame" has increased, I have made friends and I post a daily feature in the P.R.I.A.T.E chat.
Why I made you an Admin, I have no idea...didn't you just ask me?

I made an account to post on one article. Then... I continued to post every now and then, until April 18th, when I decided to post as frequently as possible. ^_^

I came here for Unskippable, then started lurking in the forums. I noticed that people can hold conversations and have debates, usually without it turning into a giant flame war with pictures of memes everywhere.

I decided I wanted in on it.

I don't remember exactly why I made an account. I was lurking the site for a year before I made one, and then I did. Other than that, I forget what happened.

There was a thread about the worst lines uttered in a video game ever. My first post was as grammatically correct as I normally strive to be.

And in case you're wondering, I said: "Anything ever said by Lieutenant Foster in MechAssault 2", or something to that effect. Not as bad as some lines, sure, but my God, every time he spoke it was like a collective, "Shut up Foster." was heard.

The combined efforts of Zero Punctuation and Unforgotten Realms. Yah see back In my day we didn't watch no Zero Punctuation, they were called FullyRambloticReviews, which In that time were called Sherbert Scoops. Also Schmoopy wasn't so well defined, he was cheap lookin, and we spent our days waiting for Time Gnomes 3, which never came, because the tools were being sent off for the war.
