In all honesty, Google went from an internet search program to owning YouTube, a site used by millions, creating a browser that rivals its competition's and even a program for phones which seems to be winning over victims of the i phone 4 as seen with the transfer to the Samsung Galaxy.
This company is taking on Apple and Microsoft and is surprisingly coming up ahead.

In short the answer is "no".
In more detail, the US goverment will prevent it in the USA and as long as we remain the dominant global market/economy it's going to limit the amount of power a group can assemble this way by simply catering to other countries with looser laws.
I'd remind people that Ted Turner tried to buy up a load of media companies and pretty much declare himself the lord of all information on planet earth. The goverment stepped in to prevent this. If Google, or any of these mergers, started to become that powerful or did away with all the competition the goverment would also step in and break them up.
That said, we might see Google having it's own country before too long. It's an off chance, but keep in mind that the whole "Egyptian Revolution" was largely started/coordinated by a 30 year old Google executive. Right now he seems to be the closest thing to a definitive leader the revolutionaries have (which is really, really scary). If the Islamics don't wind up taking over the country due to being the largest coordinated group (even if not an actual majority) I expect this guy is liable to be on any kind of a democratic ballot and probably has a chance of winning. Just think... Google with The Cradle Of Civilization, a true symbol for the information age.
