In 300 years, when we communicate entirely by mouth-breathing and sweat, they'll wish they'd never added noob to the dictionary.

That would be totally epic, yet sad.
yay we're contributing to society, wait... fuck, we're adding a completely retarded word with no specific meaning.

If it makes it into the dictionary I'm going to kill someone.

Noob is better than those other words but the idea of it becoming a proper word terrifies me. Imagine it, in the news, noob, in job interviews, noob, in novels, noob. See what I am getting at?

"And in foreign news, Cameron totally pwned that noob Brown earlier. PM Brown responded with 'No, you!'"

Actually, I'm not seeing that much of a difference here.

Well i do use the word often, but i dont beleive that it should be word. I think since it was made by us gamers it should stay in our zone, not to be learned by people that dont know what its like to be a 'noob'

Language is an ever evolving thing, So when your 70 years old and you don't understand what your grand kids are babbling on about don't worry so much. It's just life.

Let's hope such a horrid slur never makes it into the dictionary...

I think I may go on a dictionary burning rampage if "U" becomes an official replacement for "You", or similarly "4" for "For", or "2" for "to," "two," or "too."
This article isn't about the dictionary--or any legitimate linguistic authority at all, in fact.

There is no accurate count of words in the English language, nor is there even such a thing as "the dictionary".
