Starcraft or C&C? I've played Halo Wars, LotR:BFME, and many other RTSs but none compare to my experiences with Starcraft and the C&C series. Will a a future RTS knock these giants off their pedestal?

I personally think that both C&C and Starcraft are highly over rated. I prefer Age of Empires, Civilization, Rise of Nations to them. Howver, my favourite RTS is most likely Supreme Commander, which I like far more then the rest.

I never really enjoyed Starcraft. I always though Total Annihilation was a better RTS.
C&C was good, but I think Red Alert 2 is where the 'fun' factor capped.
I would say the best RTS series would be Homeworld 1 & 2.
Simple yet challenging, 3D Space movement, very very well balanced...Nothing has come close since.

i used to love the first red alert game <3 other than that i've never really played that many RTS', so i don't have that much to compare it to, but from what i've seen and can remember, C&C will always be the best, although i did rather enjoy age of empires as well
EDIT: actually after reading the wikipedia page on RTS', does advance wars count? if so i preferred that to any others

Halo Wars was the only non-PC RTS I've ever played. There's a pretty good deal at my local Best Buy for the Warcraft III Battle Chest with all 3 installments.cybersurgeon said:
BFME2 did come out on 360. It was pure garbage. They removed War of the Ring mode and Create-a-Hero. I never felt so sick in my life. So glad I only played it at a friend's house. I'll stick to my PC BFME2 with the expansion.cybersurgeon said:

Your Mileage May Vary pal. I played those games until i met the beautiful seductress known as Total War. I have never left her since.
Total Annihilation and it's spiritual successor, Supreme Commander (only SupCom1, SupCom2 was ruined by dumbing-down). TA is better than Starcraft, and SupCom is better than C&C, but they'll never be as popular because they are too complex and slow-paced.
