Wait, always be cool? You mean, games are cool now??!
I have a question to you all:
WHY WAS I NOT INFORMED!
I like to think that as a relatively new medium that games will keep progressing, likely resulting in something compeltely different to what we know today but that core value will still be there.
Always? I didn't realise we'd ever crossed that threshold.
I think video games will reach a point where graphics will see diminishing returns and ideas will be valued more. So, it is tricky to say if industry will adapt once it cannot no longer just upgrade every 5-7 years and trick me into buying a prettier version.
I think that because video games are constantly evolving that they will remain a big part of culture. When I'm 65 they may not resemble the video games that I played, but that doesn't mean they won't still be video games and lots of people won't still be playing them.
Gonna have to agree with other posters who questioned current coolness of videogames. I remember about 15 years ago, I was a total outcast for playing videogames. That's less common now, but it's still looked down upon by quite a few people I've met and that feeling's never quite gone away. As for the gamers I know, we all just think of it as a hobby; not something cool we do.
No, they are unrelated in this forum. I was just saying how most young people nowadays consider vinyl records antiques, and you wouldn't find a record player in most peoples homes.
I started playing video games in the first grade & I will play them till I die. I don;t care if they're "cool" because I generally hate anything popular.
uh... records rock and i'm 19. I recognize things that are good for their own merits and I'm sure later generations will appreciate old games. I might even consider that they might think that these earlier games are gold. I mean, until recently every game was free to play and one could play them any time they wanted to and will still be playable until their parts deteriorate, unlike the games of today. If WoW ever got its servers taken down, a giant piece of gaming will likely be lost forever.
