Yea, video games will have to become cool before they can "always" be cool. I think they actually skipped the "cool" stage, going from "rare, nerdy things" to "part of everyone's life", ignoring the "I just want it so I don't look uncool" step.
They're kind of an everyday, part of life thing now and will likely advance with technology, each new step up the ladder being "cool", but the ladder itself will not be cool.
Have I thought about this too much? Yes. Am I ignoring an essay that's due tomorrow? Very much Yes.
