Yes because only the Wii is a toy, no other console was ever under that classification...you know, except for all of them. Especially the original NES, which did so to avoid the stigma presented by video games due to the crash the entire industry experienced in America.

All your kids are going to be Nintendo fanboys. Mark my words. It is either that or let your kids play your games with all that blood, sex, and profanity. Seriously, is there any other console really trying to tap into the kiddie market right now besides Nintendo?

Well you can't exactly have "David Jaffe's Kratos Babies"...as hilarious as that idea sounds on paper. But yeah, Nintendo I feel is the only one of the big three console makers trying to actively market to all sectors of the possible gaming customer base. The PS3 and 360 may have games oriented for the younger audience but they aren't pushed as much.

Hey, God of Daycare! Kratos could swing jump ropes at his enemies. While he leads his Pre-K army against the big meanie Zeus and his army of evil first graders as they hog all the milk and cookies to themselves. Kratos could be sent to timeout(aka Hades) when Zeus tricks Kratos into talking during quiet time. Kratos must escape timeout early to stop Zeus and the first graders from ruining snack time for everyone else. The tagline is " Storytime will never be the same."

It doesn't matter how you classify the Wii. Nintendo had a brilliant product plan that paid off obscenely. When the current (7th?) gen consoles were released in the mid 00s hi def televisions were just barely going into wide use. So for most people the extra graphics power of xbox and ps3 were wasted. So Nintendo wisely decided to lower their price point rather than compete on graphics.

Wii is just FUN. For parties, for single play, and for playing with your friends. I was a huge ps2 fanboi but the Wii concept won me over. It was perfect for me since I don't care at all about online multiplayer. And I guess for a lot of people considering the sales numbers.

It won't make much difference in the long run. When i was a kid i played on the N64 mostly and as i got older i started playing more mature games on ps1 as well. It all balances out.

I think he was a bit kinder to the console in the full interview, and that headline is a bit misleading.

As much as I hate his statement, Will Wright is right... I just recently I got a Wii (last January) and as much as I love some of it's "core" games (MadWorld, Okami, blah, blah, blah...), it all boils down to the simpler games that are the most family and friends friendly, ironically, those games are the most funnier of them all... so yes, in some point, it may be a "toy" after all... so do my 360... and so do every single system available, no matter how bloodier and dirtier are it's games (except my good ol' fashioned PC).
