This disturbs me quite a bit, I've read historical witchcraft trials that pan out the exact way. And banning all Non-Christian symbols? Isn't this some kind of violation of the constitution?
Americans, please tell me this kind of thing only happens in places like Oklahoma.

I don't even think Kansas is this stupid. And they don't believe in evolution.

(To anyone living in Kansas, sorry. And when'd you get the internet?)

IT happened across Europe as well.

It had little to do with witchcraft itself, but as a way to keep women oppressed. Women who possessed any knowledge or observable skills are treated as a witch, and this keeps the patriarchy in a comfortable position.

Yep... Typical humanity. Shortsightedness and finger pointing abounds when someone doesn't fit in.

Not to mention that actual Wiccans aren't even close to that sort of stereotype.

That is quite old news considering that the articles dated 10/29/2000 but anyway I'm not surprised that this happened in America a country that is meant to be so free and enlightened oh well at least its only a strange minority

You do know this happened 9 years ago right? The Christian right has lost a lot of power since then.

(Serious opinion.) Those school officials are very evil people and I have not heard of any incident such as this until now unless you count that time a Wiccan got thrown out of the military on the grounds that Wicca is not a real religion.(Joking ironic opinion) We should have stuck to hanging Quakers, for some populist reason that I never understood we let them off and switched to picking on Witches.

Honestly,It's just a few closed minded people. As far as Oklahoma getting a bad rep let me say they are a amazing state same with the southern ones when compared to L.A. However it's just life really and also I would say the girls fault a bit as it seems she kind of played with fire by wearing symbols that would look like "evil devil" rites to her christian community.

Sad it's this way but she brought it on herself a little by walking the edge in a community like that.

Hopefully this will show the officials how few agree with their viewpoints but sadly in some community's it's best just to get out of dodge.

I feel no comfort in that this happened nine years ago..
It is horrible enough with all the bullying and discrimination that is being carried out in schools all over the world. To think that school officials would do this to a poor 15-year old girl.. it makes me sick and furious. To make her a ridiculed and humiliated outcast.. it destroys lives. It might be slightly pushing it to call this religious fanaticism, but I am prepared to walk that mile. I.. find no words for my anger. The poor girl. A search for a follow-up of this will ensue.
Heh.. I find the Wiccan religion to be very charming, by the way. Beautiful, if you may.

After exploring the article linked in the original post, this case was in fact filed a little over NINE YEARS AGO.

Hello the year 2000, how you shaking?

LOL! Thats conservative Midwesterners for ya, and as for the Kansas comments, Having lived there for 10 years before I moved to Florida, its probably worst. You really only see stuff like this in the less populated states.

It may have happened on Bush's watch, but let's see if Obama will stand to let things like this happen.

/lesigh Sounds like she is just another wannabe trying to stand out. Real witches, warlocks, satanists learn early on to keep this kinda stuff secret and just manipulate people like marrionette puppets.
