So I played the Wet demo yesterday and it starts off with me jumping and running all over the place shooting bad guys in slow mo and im like Woah! Then I was running on walls and doing some crazy acrobatics stuff and im like Woah! Then im swinging on poles while still shooting bad guys in slow mo and im like Woah! Then i go berserk and start hacking and slashing a bunch of dudes and im like Woah! Then im on top of a speeding car and im like Woah! Then im jumping from car to car while everything is crashing and exploding while STILL shooting bad guys and im like Woah!.

Anyway as you can probly tell I liked the demo but theres a voice in the back of my head saying this is the best they have and the rest of the game will just be repetitive and stale. Those who have played the full game, what are your opinions on it? Are the voices inside my head right? Should I listen to them more often?

Im gonna go with if the voices have ever told you to burn something, or anything, or someone, dont listen to it. But yeah, either rent it for like a day for a longer taste or wait untill the prices go down

Well, it is just the demo. They always put the most attractive hooks into it to get people to buy it. Chances are there will be a bit more build up to that kind of intensity in the actual game.

Why shouldn't I listen to the voices then, they also tell me how to get away with it.

Well for one thing, they tell you to burn things, for another thing, they tell you to burn things, dont listen to anything that tells you to burn things, or hurt little animals., thats also never good.

The demo for a game is like a movie trailer: it's gonna show off the best parts and often there's very little on top of it to make the game worth getting. I'm fairly sure all those "Whoa!" moments will eventually become "Meh" if you have to repeat them 50 times to finish the game. Maybe I'm just jaded by games like Mirror's Edge, but I wouldn't go soiling myself over some demo. Like other have said, rent it first and then if you still love it, go ahead and buy it.

I rented the game yesterday and finished it in 8 1/2 hours... and it would've been 7 hours if it weren't for the goddamn stodgy controls in some sections.

Good things first... The AI isn't that bad, but certainly not A-list material. The shooting and the swordplay ultimately work and even though that's pretty much all you'll be doing over the entire course of the game, it never lost its charm for me. The graphics are also far from top notch, but there's this permanent grainy filter on your vision which looks really cool and makes you forget about the sub-par graphics. Also the soundtrack is just awesome. The game presents itself extremely well, and the collectible monkey toys or the fact that you drink whiskey to replenish your health are just genius.

What REALLY got on my tits are the PoP-esque platforming segments, of which there are A LOT. The game is plagued by collision detection problems, so even a perfect jump towards a bar or pole you're supposed to swing from can easily end up in your untimely end. There is also a system that indicates what surfaces you can acrobatic stuff on, but it is complete shit, and there's often no clear indication as to where exactly you're supposed to go next, and that's pathetic for a game as linear as WET... and to put the cherry on top, the game has a timer and an evaluation system for both your acrobatics and your fighting skills running in the background the entire time. Not that bad, you say? You get paid based on how quickly and stylishly you finished each level, and getting paid almost no money just because you fell to your death 10 times or spent 5 minutes just figuring out how to get out of a room (ideally when endlessly respawning baddies are bothering you at the same time) made me lose count of how often I almost smashed my controller to bits.

All in all WET wasn't that bad a game, but there were just too many sections that frustrated me straight out of my skull to call it a good game, either. Couple that with its insulting shortness, piss-poor unlockable extra content and little to no replay value and you get a mediocre experience at best.

The game looks like mindless repetitive crap. Meant to attract the attention of the same people who liked that Bikini Samurai game. I was not looking forward to this game and after seening the demo I am convinced it will be shallow. Though recently I insulted someone for prejudging a game based solely on the hype and demo. I am willing to give it a chance.

But I am a betting man anyone want to bet me that the game won't be a complete turd?

We can take care of the detail off thread.

Yeah. I was excited by the demo, but I think I'm going to wait for a price drop. At about $30, I wouldn't feel too bad if it got really repetitive ^_^

It's too short to be repetitive. But it's a hell of a lot of fun and I can definately see myself playing it again. Worth buying over renting on those grounds. And the grounds that anyone who rents a game is a dirty, cheap whore. Much like the people who sell on games. I mean, if you're not willing to buy a game then why rent? I mean, you're basically saying "I don't want to buy this game because I don't think I'll like it that much, but please take my money so I can play it." As for selling on games, you pay £40 say for a release game and then complete it, sell it a few weeks later for £15. Are you just a complete mug then?

Anyway, definately worth £30 if you can find it for that. £40 is really pushing it and £50 is a no chancer. I got it for £25 on a preorder by the way. It also arrived two days before release. =]
I done a review on it in the user review section if you want to see about the gameplay and such. It's flawed but fun is the bottom line.

You read my mind. o_0
I didn't even know the game was out.
On topic.
I'm not so sure of the game myself after watching the demo on Youtube.
But I'm guessing the entertainment value of it will run out before the game ends like in [Prototype].
But of course I haven't played the game so most likely I'll be wrong.
I would do what sasquatch99 said and rent the game.

After the demo and reading some reviews, I'd recommend a rental, or wait until it's sitting in the bargain bin (Where it's destined to be). You know it won't last that long, so don't bother with full price. Rent that puppy if you can't wait, or just wait and get it when it's $12.99 (Which it totally will be).
