Awesome should be, well, awe inspiring. Instead it now means cool.
Isn't it interesting how Awesome and Awful mean the same thing? Shouldn't they just mean varying degrees of awe?

Any of the labelled 'swear words' don't mean anything to me anymore. They are used so much it's just another word to me.

"Terrorist/Terrorism".

Every last fucking person that commits a heinous act nowadays is bandied about by the media as a terrorist. A terrorist is one who inspires fear in others in order to further their cause, not someone who does something for their own pleasure and doesn't care who knows it.

Stupid political "buzzwords" are completely removing the meaning and impact from once-powerful words.
I'm with this guy. Politics and Journalism need to stop ass-raping my language with their useless terms.

Fuck, damn, hell, etc when used profanely.

"Military intelligence".

"Elite/elitist", since that was more or less what the McCain/Palin campaign was founded on- "They're elite/elitist pigs and we're not."

Anything that comes out of Rush Limbaugh's mouth (and that's not just "liberal hate"- I have a handful of Republican leanings, but Limbaugh is just an asshole).

"Reverse-discrimination", because that would be "tolerance" and "being fair".

"Socialist" as an insult.

Glad to see people like you two know that politics is starting to really annoy everyone with these "terms" that are used more by them than idiots using curse words constantly now.

I get sick of people spelling 'a lot' as 'alot', so that's now lost all meaning to me. It's TWO words, not one!!!

Some could say the media are the terrorists... cos' they are the ones spreading the terror, this needs cleaning up to make it look like a "witty" attack on news that has been blown out of all proportions... but I am not gonna be the guy to do it, its not my MO.

EDIT: I did some cleaning up. :(

Any phrase containing "Your mom"

Every swear word. I've resorted to using terms that I can't stand using because the regular "Go fuck yourself" doesn't cut it. Whenever I hear ditsy girls wearing less than a cubic foot of clothing or guys wearing more clothes than a scientist in Antarctica saying the F word every third word when they talk, I honestly want to kill them.

Oh, and the threat of killing is overused as well. Most people dont mean it when they say it. I did.

Those words would have to be 'Sexism' and 'sexist' as they tend to be non-ironically used by people who incidentally have no idea what it actually means as in "That barbarian woman is dressed like a barbarian man! That's so sexist!" or "It's sexist not to hold doors open for women."
Racial/Ethnic/Elitist Slurs used as terms of endearment are a bit worse, however, since it becomes impossible to know if it is being used as a label to let you know that this person thinks of you as less than human or if it is a sign that they hold you in high esteem. The Race/Ethnicity/Class of the person doesn't always help to determine the intent, either.

I'm guilty of that. Sorry :(

And intense is overused, and used in the wrong context, by most of my friends.

Fascist/Fascism to quote George Orwell:

"The word ?Fascism? is almost entirely meaningless. In conversation, of course, it is used even more wildly than in print. I have heard it applied to farmers, shopkeepers, Social Credit, corporal punishment, fox-hunting, bull-fighting, the 1922 Committee, the 1941 Committee, Kipling, Gandhi, Chiang Kai-Shek, homosexuality, Priestley's broadcasts, Youth Hostels, astrology, women, dogs and I do not know what else... almost any English person would accept ?bully? as a synonym for ?Fascist'"

oh and the usual; fuck, gay, love etc.
