Not an update per se, but another interesting tidbit of WoW information my brother has just fed to me.

The new Nihilum+SK Guild (they joined together apparently) have already cleared the entirety of currently available WotLK raid content. That's within two days of release.

'tis a bit silly, no?

I don't get the obsession. Surely they must have something else they could do?

As I've maintained: They might find it fun? That's what gaming is generally seen as being about after all.

Well obviously.
I find various things fun but I couldn't to them to this extent. I suppose it's admirable, being able to grind to such an extent.

A medal for absolutely obliterating all the fun in everything by making games a part time job.

That's slightly different though, for one thing American media, TV et al shoves that down the whole world's throat as often as it can. In addition comparing a WoW achievement to a feat such as walking on the moon is ridiculous.
I wasn't comparing them I was just raising a point which you nullified, eh?

Tp be honest this doesn't suprise me one bit. It happened last expansion. WoW players seem to me much more fanatical then any other mmorpg players, and as a consequence spend A LOT more time and money on it. Actually i thought it would be quicker than 24 hours.

What I don't really get, but am sadly not surprised about, is all the hate and abuse in game and on forums for anyone who gets to 80.

This guy took ONE day of his life, and achieved something he wanted to do, along with help from friends, he wasn't solo grinding, he had moral support and company, and now he can go back to his alts, or make a Death Knight, and casually stroll thru the game at a level per week if he chooses, although I imagine he owes a few people a lot of help now, as in 'Hey can you bring your 80 to this dungeon, remember I healed you!'

I guess all I'm saying is he didn't spend a week camped outside walmart to get the expansion or anything, he just spent a day playing the game with a goal in mind. Sure it was excessive, but so long as its a one off, what the hell, any of you ever been a little excessive with alcohol? you got over it and you're still normal, right?

It is important t realize that he didn't just up and decide to be the first 80. He had planned it out and had several friends helping him along the way. It's not really that big a deal once you realize he had a plan and a team of friends to help him pull it off. Now if he decided to just lvl to 80 first on a whim and actually did it that would be amazing.
