Obviously we all know that one abysmal game we ended up buying somehow, but this is for the worst purchase, not just the worst game. A bad game you spent £40 on would be worse than a terrible game for £5.

My biggest disappointment came from Time Crisis 3 on PS2, a long time ago. It was darned expensive with the gun, and all I got for it was a game that could be completed in MINUTES. I forget how much it cost, but it was enough to greatly annoy me for its total lack of lifespan and overall repetition. Stick to the arcades.

So what does the escapist regret spending their hard-earned cash on?

Sacred 2 I bought of Steam....can't even get the damn game to work, it just crashes whenever it starts up because its incompatible with ATI cards or something. Pathetic.

Medieval 2 Total War on Steam. The Steam version doesn't support mods, which are the best part of the game.

Kane & Lynch 2. That game broke my heart.

At least I knew what I was getting into with Duke Nukem Forever. But K&L2 was a major disappointment.

Bulletstorm. It simply wasn't worth the £40 i paid for it in any way. Thought it isn't my least favorite game, it is my worst purchase

Final Fantasy 13

I hesitate to even call it a game to be fair.

Single worst thing Square Enix have ever done.

Well, seeing how I only buy about 3 games a year, I usually am already convinced on if I'd like it or not.

That said, the worst game that I've ever bought was Fable 3. It was such a giant step back from the previous one that it was literally depressing to play.

So many broken promises and such a damn boring game

When I was a kid I got nearly three hundred dollars in christmas money and I bought a Turbo Graphix 16 system. Does anyone even remember that system? Biggest waste of money ever.

Fifa 64 for £40+... what was I thinking!?

That's nowhere near the worst purchase in the family though, my normally savvy father got brainwashed into buying a CDi. I don't think there's a worse possible game console purchase than that, even the brain melting Virtual Boy is at least worth something as a collector's item.

APB.

Well technically my missus got it for me but still, it's the worst purchased game to come out of our money.

I buy smart, and rarely buy and keep at full price unless it's a series I really want to support (take advantage of the 7 day returns at Gamestop, people, it's the only way). But the worst full price day 1 purchase I DID make was Hellgate: London. I had such faith in that game and it's creators and it turned into one of the biggest, steaming piles of fail in gaming history.

Duke Nukem would take that honour now, but in 07, HG:L players and the people who paid $200 for a lifetime subscription (6 months trolololol) were the sorriest gamers of all time.

I bought Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded. If it was used, I could maybe have justified it, but no, I actually pre-ordered it.

Same here.

I liked the visual aesthetic and the multiplayer had good ideas, but overall it was a shit game.

Fable 3: Collector's Edition (feel free to go ahead and laugh)

I don't know why but I thought Lionhead studios and Molyneaux had finally realized they errors of the ways and finally made a good Fable game. They didn't. It was rushed and it was padded more that 5 foot thick mattress.

Well and I figured if John Cleese was willing put his soothing voice into it then it must be the witch's bollocks.
...
Its not.

GTAIV. Bought it for $30 a couple years back thinking it was a bargain, only to spend hours going through the Games for Windows Live bullshit AND THEN find out the game won't run properly.

Jesus, I don't even want to get into some of the shit I bought back when I owned the original Xbox. That was my first console so I was kind of an idiot about video games. I got all kinds of movie tie in games and the like. I don't think anything too awful happened though because I didn't really have anything to compare it to, and I actually ended up with some pretty decent games like Spider-Man 2 and KOTOR because they were based on movies I liked.

When it really gets embarrassing is that I bought a used copy of Guitar Hero 2 for 90 bucks. Then more recently I borrowed a friends copy of Fable 3 and while I was playing it my Xbox got jostled pretty hard and it destroyed the disk. So I ended up having to give him 60 bucks, meaning that I basically had to pay full price to play a game for a few days. I'm probably still less pissed about that one then the Guitar Hero, though, just because if I didn't pay for his Fable 3 I would have been a pretty huge ****, whereas me paying for Guitar Hero was my own choice. We had a good laugh about the Fable 3 thing, too, I remember he told someone who liked Fable 3 that the game was so bad that I was forced to destroy his game.
