Any sliding puzzle... I hate those things, and can never solve them without a guide or cheat.

Anything that is just a series of QTEs

The Arena in Resonance of Fate. Every rank 3 times isn't too bad, if a bit tedious. but 10 times for each of the 50 ranks (all for a trophy/achievement). Do not try it all at once like I did. not really a mini-game, since it's a lot of regular fights.

I hated Fallout 3's lockpicking, but enjoyed Oblivion's, but I think they should make the tumbler's past your skill level harder to pick. Basically you get the slow movement much less often on them when you have crap skill.

Just looked at my current game collection. None of them have mini-games apart from RDR.

For those who have played BoF III, pretty much every mini game in their sucks.
Breath of Fire 3? I loved that game! Honestly, most of the minigames were annoying (cooking sushi for the mayor of a town), but they weren't game breaking. And the fishing minigame wasn't TOO bad. I could do it enough to get some of the things I wanted. Seriously, the first bit of the game was a joke if you got 3 Silver Knifes from the fish merchant.

Most hacking 'mini-games' tend to suck.

However...
FF9's card game was total crap, confused the hell out of me - made me miss FF8's game so much more.
Oh God. Why did you even bring FF9's card game up? I still wake up in cold sweats screaming. All the card stats, with seemingly random and sparse arrows for attack was just annoying, and insane. Why would anyone want to play that?

I loved FF8's, though. It was simple yet complex. Just do what you can to avoid the Random Rule or even remove it from regions. If you're forced to play with random rules just use Card Mod to get rid of all your weaker cards. Suddenly random cards aren't so bad when most of them are level 8 and above.

OT: These may not count as a mini game, but any time a game makes me play it with broken modified rules, I cringe. Because I totally want to play the game, but instead of fighting, I want to run away from a totally overpowered enemy that I can't even phase while he regenerates health/energy/mana/whatever and I start with 1 health. Yeah, that is fun! /sarcasm

That minigame in birth by sleep where you had to shoot the Ice cream into the cones. I hated it and I sucked at it. It is the reason I never finished the game

I'd put the Blitzball from FFX-2. It just makes no sense! The first incarnation was alright. It was a stat-building sport RPG.

The second was a clusterfuck of ideas put together to create a shambling mass that barely functioned.

Second place goes to Sphere Break from, again, FFX-2. Although I didn't mind going through my times tables again.
