I laughed as soon as the guitarist started at a completely different tempo than the one the drummer ticked off. As for bad covers, can you imagine a deathcore version of a U2 song? Well, here it is:

Don't know if it gets much worse than this one...
If you want a good laugh, I suggest you watch it.
I feel ninja'd!
Was the first thing I thought about when I saw this thread, so I'll steal your post and agree completely.

As far as bigger acts pissing on each others milkshake and then drinking it, I think Limp Bizkit's cover of Ministry's "Thieves" is at the top of the horrible heap.
But I loved Ministry. :(

I... had the time of my liiiife, and i owe it all to you, you,you,you,you,you,you,you,you,you,you,you,you,you,you,you,you,you,you,you,you,you,you,you,you,you,you,you,you,you,you-

DIRTY BIT

You haven't covered that thing yet? I am disappoint.
It may not technically be a cover, but it's soulless and needlessly techno.

Desolation Row cover by My Chemical Romance, the original by Bob Dylan was one that got me into his music like 4-5 years ago, and by that time I was just getting into all sorts of music away from the same old punk and metal. So when I heard that cover, that plain guitar, those unpassionate vocals and the absence of that harmonica... along with mutilating the 11:12 minute mark into like 3 minutes or less, well I seriously lost my shit there.
In my mind that never happened, and no one can tell any different as long as I still stick my fingers in my ears and go "lalalalalalalalalala" very loudly.

On topic;

I had the unfortunate pleasure of hearing a dance remix of The Doors' Been Down So Long which included rapping on the radio the other day. I haven't been able to find that particular version again. However here is another complete raping of that song they made earlier. Enjoy
