I don't know what the absolute worst game of 2010 would be, but the worst game I played during 2010 would be Call of Duty Black Opps and that was still a decent game.

I'm going to go with Black Ops just simply because you know it made more money than it deserved.

This year didn't really have a game I hated as badly as 2009's Prototype, but I guess of all the games I played this year, the one I liked the least would be BlazBlue: Continuum Shift, which decided that all the good things about its predecessor were not good things at all, like...you know, mildly balanced gameplay.
I disliked prototype too it was way overhyped.

That's not the question, it made to much money but it wasn't bad.
the worst game of 2010 is Naughty Bear.

The ammount of money a game made should in no way affect its initial quality.

OT: Guessin it's Sonic Free Riders or Fighters: Uncaged, or any other Kinect/Move failed launch title.

thats true, because if people play a game that is absolutely great, then even if they made the next game into a really really crappy pong game on purpose it will sell well because people will expect so much, there is a huge amount of people that dont watch reviews or anything.so there for yeah you are right

Worst I played this year was Lost Planet 2, oh how I despise this game. I never played the first, but a guy in the store suggested that I give it a look anyway. First thing I noticed when trying to start the campaign was that the default setting was to play the campaign in system link NOT singleplayer. The game squanders its rich setting with faceless, nameless and overall non-characters, absolutely zero story and bad controls. Worst part was how insanely difficult some levels were to do by yourself.
Not everyone has access to xbox live, and not everybody has people readily available to play with.

Yeah...I am not a fan

It's been said by a couple of other people already but its true: there is no correlation between the amount of money something makes and its overall quality. That's the same as hating something just because its popular.

IMO Black Ops was pretty boring save for the vietnam stealth level (you know, the only level that actually felt like it was black ops), and the story was incredibly stupid even when compared to Modern Warfare 2. But at the end of the day it was still a pretty fun game and I enjoyed playing the multi-player for a while.

Fable3 for sure, not quite as bad as 2 but still anti climatic. I was ready to fight an impossibly strong shadow demon, all across my land. Instead I got to battle a middle aged man, after a short stroll trough my local market.

For me, its a tie. A tie between Alpha Protocol and Black Ops (Sorry JourneytoHell)

Both had horrible voice acting, horrible stories and horrible points in the game where I just wanted to put it down and say enough. Both had horrible pacing problems and both looked horrible. Both had generic enemies (Seriously why was every 3rd Vietcong I killed shirtless and had a red bandanna. Its not hard to put a clothing randomizer into a game.) and both had piss easy boss fights (Although the case in Black Ops was that you just shot through more generic enemies and let a cutscene kill the big baddy for ya.)and both overall had pretty bad stories.

Though favor kinda tips towards Black Ops, because while it sucked in my eyes, it was riddled with bugs like Protocol was.

Why would they?

Worst I bought/played was bioshock 2. Not really bad persay but not good either. Didn't have the super immersive story or original set-pieces of the first bioshock but still had all the gameplay flaws: repetitive enemies and only one or two good tactics out of so many options. Oh and multiplayer was a hyper lag fest to the point of being unplayable.

Ah, see, while I can't argue anything you just said, I really didn't fully clarify my semi-trollish first post. Black Ops may be good, it may be fun, but the amount of revenue it generated I still view as a bad thing because it's not the kind of shooter we need more of. Because it made so much money, other game makers are going to try to emulate its success, and it's just going to further water down the market for good FPS games.

A good game can still be bad if it causes collateral damage in other ways. Halo is also responsible for this. Before Halo, we had some really good console shooters that I'd be willing to pop in today like Perfect Dark/Goldeneye and Turok 2. Halo being different from those games was good for Halo, but bad for every other shooter that came after that tried to be Halo. Mark my words, it's only a matter of time where we start seeing COD clones from other companies.

Actually, I think the guidelines were more focused on blatant hatred toward other users or people in general. I think what the OP is basically opening a discussion on what games were either overhyped, not worth their price for the quality of gameplay, or just weren't of a "good" quality story-wise.

As for the topic, I'd say the Dead or Alive: Paradise for the PSP.

yeah, that is something I can absolutely agree with. CoDs popularity has unfortunately already started making its mark, most notably in the Medal of Honor reboot and in Halo: Reach. Since the entire FPS genre is so restrictive on what one can do with it, this is going to be a constant problem. As you mentioned, Halo was popular and new and most importantly sold A LOT of units, so everyone else wanted to be Halo. Call of Duty filled the three year void after Halo 3, and sold a tonne of units, general consumers forgot halo and CoD became the dominant figure, sold lots of units so everyone wants to be CoD. Eventually something will change and a new game will take over, most likely after totally saturates the market with call of duty.

Although it saddens me to say this, I actually kind of hope that this oversaturation will lead to a crash in the FPS market. Because then developers will get their heads out of their asses and if they want to try out in the FPS market again they will actually be thinking through their ideas and bring out a trully excellent game, not an okay game, not a good game, but an EXCELLENT GAME.

Of what I played, Alan Wake... Its a nitpick but that camera drove me crazy... Plus when I played this, I had just finished Deadly Premonition, so I was spoiled...
