A friend of mine had just killed Del Lago (the giant crocodile boss) in RE4 and was typing to me on MSN messenger.
It went something like this:
Friend: just beat the crocodile
Me: Congrats, I like that you have to cut the rope afterwards
Friend: What?
He then looked up to see that the 'Press B not to die' command was flashing violently as Leon was getting closer to getting pulled down to a watery grave. My friend survived, just barely.

Hmmm, the worst I've had was whilst playing Morrowind for the first time, I was walking along, admiring the then-beautiful landscape when all of a sudden, a wild Kwama Forager appears! (AKA: Little Worm Guy) He killed me after a 15 minute long battle thanks to Morrowind's unfortunately annoyingly combat system where being able to hit your target is based off of a dice throw that gives you a better chance as your agility goes up.

In Halo 3, I saw someone get stuck on the crotch by a plasma grenade. Not a nice way for a guy to die.
In GTA IV I was on a bike (Sanchez) and was going really fast, then suddenly some dumbass NPC decided to uhh... be infront of me. Then BANG. Went flying and watched as Niko's head went smashing off of a giant horizontal pole, then did 3 flips and landed, rolled for about 7 years as is the norm in IV and then, got up, thinking "How did I survive?". Naturally, 3 seconds later I was shot after crashing into a cop car.
Glitches in general. Or alternatively when you forget something you need, and because of this you die.
ok, best worse deaths.... hmmm despite avoiding it, getting "assimilated" in Indigo Prophecy. Hell just about any death in Indigo Prophecy. The game just rubs it in your face for about 2 min with a lengthy yet skippable game over sequence.
Oh this is a good bad death. Killing urself in call of cthulhu: dark corners of the earth.

COD4 match, about 9 enemies where barricated in a single building, and were unleashing an unbelievebly strong barrage of LMG, Sniper and rifle shots. I entered the building silently. This was followed by major ass rape by 6 people, who all stabed me simultaineously.
That and in GTA IV, i crashed into a cab, and for no reason the taxi driver catches on fire, wich was followed by the cab. That ruled.

The worst ways to die, are those moments in unpolished games like Mercs 2. where jumping off some stairs kills you, and you try to escape with 1 or 2 HP left and then you do your (small) leap of faith...then die.
DUDE! My Dad is on the Nethack Dev Team! But yeah, worst way I've ever died was in Nethack when I went to the Elemental Plane of Air, forgot to put the amulet on, and proceeded to fall to my death on the first file that I had ever gotten that far.Gitsnik post=9.72680.768979 said:
