I don't fight using my fists or guns or whatever, I just use pointy words to puncture my victims morale. But (and forgive me for sounding cliché) you should fight for what you believe in!

I used to get the shit kicked out of me in school pretty badly, I was bullied, beaten with hurlys (think like a hockey stick) and attacked with a knife.
I hate fighting but if I had not stood up for myself I would not be the person I am. I learned to fight dirty and use all manner of disgusting methods but as I see it I had no choice and if I was in a fight today I'd do the same. It's not macho, it's not tough it's the fact of growing up.

Anyone who likes fighting either has 5 of his mates along with him or gets off on having his nose broken.

I have been in lots of fights. But most if not all of them were because of self defense. I grew up in a rough neighborhood and there is only so many times running was an option. I felt that if I ran forever they would keep on trying to kick my ass. I turned on them and fought back. After a few years of fighting back they eventually learned that is they screwed with me they would get punched in the face, a lot. So it stopped. I lost some fights and I won some. But I never felt like a victim ever again even when I lost.

Been in a fair few fights, didn't start any of them but sometimes there really is no other option, no way am I running away so some chav can feel 'hard' and brag to his mates about it.. I'll go psycho on him and wipe the stupid chavvy smirk clean off his face.

I've been in a couple of fist fights throughout high school, and only during freshman/sophomore year.

Fighting is stupid and accomplishes nothing, unless in the act of self defense.

Only time I ever got in a fight was with a neo-nazi in school who threatened to break my neck if I turned off his white power music again (he was playing it in class). I got suspended for it, but all the teachers seemed to like me a lot more after that.
That's hot. and cool. :)

In my younger days I would fight at the drop of a hat over virtually anything, such as some dillhole challenging my supremacy ((I had a bit of an ego problem)). Nowadays I am a lot calmer person, but I will still battle for chivalry, defending the weak, upholding what is right, and in the Octagon for sport. mind you, sport is just that, and I never make it personal.

Well I got beaten up when we were traveling through France on a school trip. And I didn't even hit back. Lucky I don't really feel pain that much.
And yes, I got into a couple of fights, sometimes over trivial nonsense (which sadly I'm responsible for too) and I usually won. I learned Judo and my first reaction to someone trying to hit me is a shoulder throw- that comes in handy.

I couldn't believe what I was reading in this thread. The amount of people who haven't been in a fight is shocking. They must have not gone to school or something becuase I used to get in fights all the bloody time. So, I guess I fought because I'd rather them to fall over with a bloody nose than me be in hospital. I didn't always win, but I'm a terrible runner.

Edit: How do you guys manage to avoid fights? I don't start fights but they still happen. It's school, it's full of charvers and arseholes that'll look for any reason.

1) Threatening my family or friends in some way (and being serious about it)
2) Abusing (whether physically or mentally) anyone weaker than you
3) Hitting me or someone close to me

Yes, I'm old-fashioned and they're probably kind of all-encompassing, but I have a Papa Wolf syndrome about my family and friends.

I really don't like fights, although I guess I've been in a couple. The problem is that I instinctively go straight for the kill as soon as I stop thinking. Temples, throat, groin anything that will cause shitloads of pain or stop 'em quickly I'll go for. I don't like it though, because it scares me a little that one day I might actually kill someone. I don't want to do that just yet.

My family or myself or my friends or my honor or if I was really desperate, money.
If my family or friends or myself were attacked, i would easily fight back, maybe even kill the attacker.
If my honor was attacked and a verbal argument devolved into fists, i would fight, but not kill.
And If I were poor, i would indeed enter into hobo fights.
But I always thought the idea of fighting for your life intrigued me. Like if I had nothing left and I were attacked by multiple people, I don't think I would just let myself get killed, but I think I would fight with everything I have and then some.
But these are just my ramblings :)

I got into quite alot of fights growing up but shitty council housing areas will kind of make that happen like it or not, looking back cant really blame the kids who grew up there though despite my familys own problems we were at least close most of them were broken homes or riddled with issues.

What will I fight over pride I would fly off the handle when I was younger at insults, punches I could take and walk away but if a name hurt me enough not a chance I would be the bigger man nowadays I'm better but I can still start a fight if im annoyed enough. Seeing a mate attacked or outnumbered (generaly wont jump in unless its 2 - 1 or more or they're badly hurt). My family, or seeing women/children hurt Im thick skinned to alot of things but that I cannot ever abide even mionorly.

I oppose violence, I believe all situations can be resolved through humility and conversation provided that you are in direct contact with the person... who has even a slither of civility and decency, after all you cant charm a beast. Also people tend to get more... shall we say, bold when there is distance and numbers between the 2 of you.

However, I would resist a government that I truly believed were doing wrong and causing harm to peoples rights and people themselves. As I have said if the BNP got into power I am going underground to start/join a revolution and resist their tyranny.
