I wouldn't go so far as to want a world without Nintendo, but I'd rather they stuck to handhelds, they've always made amazing handhelds and handheld games whereas their console output has been "mixed" since the N64.
Eh. The only reason I would welcome that is because Sonic would go back to being exclusive and I wouldn't have to see ads for his games and poorly "upgraded" Dreamcast games plastered all over my 360 and PS3 user interfaces (Hey SEGA. Don't tell me you updated Crazy Taxi to have widescreen when all you did is just add an option to stretch the video out. That's not 16:9 widescreen, that's just stretched 4:3 and it looks like shit). But beyond that, SEGA failed multiple times in the hardware department for a reason, and them coming back wouldn't be any better than what we have now. It'd probably be a lot worse though.zestamaster said:sega could come back...
Because unlike Final Fantasy (do I need to say anything about 13 and 14?), Call of Duty (cheaters), Guitar Hero/Rock Band (too much milking, too many expensive controllers), Sonic (another one I don't feel I need to say anything about), and more, Nintendo's latest _____ is always of high quality and provides a pretty great experience from start to finish. Except maybe Other M since people are kind of hating on that all over again today, and I don't want them to feel left out.Sean951 said:So how is releasing the latest Zelda/Mario/DK/Metroid game any different from the latest CoD/Final Fantasy/Tales of ____/Madden/Guitar Hero/Sonic/etc.? Could some one explain why it's Nintendo that is getting all the hate for it?
Assuming everyone agrees with you, which we don't. Where did you even come to this conclusion though? How does one company making iterations of the same series over and over again, with well reviewed and best-selling games of those series coming out, affect an entire industry?QuickKick89 said:.
Howevr, there's really no doubt that they've hampered creativity,
Shovelware has been around for ages. Just look at all the crap we got on the PS2 or the NES, if it's popular, there will be crap.and now with the rise of shovelware,
Well, small, crappy game developers need to make games too. It sucks to have to wade through crap, but they're ALLOWED. If there are good games, there will be crap. And Nintendo has nothing to do with another dev's choice to make crappy game.just about every two-bit crap developer has been able to make a quick buck on Nintendo's systems
??? HOW? I doubt Ninjabread Man is selling as well as Halo 3. if a dev makes a good game people will buy it. What does this even have to do with Nintendo?- this hurting the base principles of our industry: make good games, or die trying.
At this point, I just gave up. Listen, I don't know what you think Nintendo is (some sort of evil game dev corrupting monster??) But they're just a company that makes games and consoles. If people make shovelware for the Wii, Nintendo has nothing to do with it. THey don't have anything to do with making devs less creative, I have no idea how you reached such a conclusion. With Nintendo out of the industry, suddenly game devs will HAVE to try, or perish. That seems to be what Yahtzee wants.
I would miss my Wii, I happen to like playing it a lot.Maxtro said:Nintendo should just stop making hardware and focus on making games.
As long as the game quality doesn't drop, nobody would miss not having a Wii 3.
